Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you consider rural-to-urban migration a positive development, and you give relevant reasons, including education, employment, transport, healthcare and access to shops. These points address the question, and the conclusion restates your view. However, some ideas are asserted rather than fully explained. For example, you say city schools offer more interactive teaching, but do not give a specific illustration of how this benefits students. The employment point is also brief, and the discussion of grocery stores receives similar emphasis to more consequential benefits. Develop fewer key reasons with clearer explanation or examples, and make the link between each reason and improved lives explicit. This would make the response more fully developed and balanced in its support of your position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The body paragraphs group related benefits, and signposts such as “Furthermore,” “In addition” and “To conclude” help readers follow the direction of the argument. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to track because several points are joined into long, loosely connected sentences. For instance, the education discussion moves from school resources to teaching methods and then employment without a clear transition. Some linking phrases are also used mechanically or inaccurately, such as “While” before a statement that is not contrasted with another idea. Organise each paragraph around one main benefit, use clearer sentence boundaries, and make references such as “another factor” more precise.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “infrastructure,” “employment,” “interactive” and “healthcare,” and this gives you some ability to discuss different aspects of urban life. However, the range is limited by repeated general words such as “better,” “cities” and “rural,” while frequent spelling errors make the writing less clear: examples include “urbun,” “oppurtunities,” “quaility” and “tranportation.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “accommodating in cities” and “cities provides.” Choose more precise topic vocabulary and check spelling and collocations carefully. For example, use “moving to urban areas” rather than “accommodating in cities,” and “access to public transport” rather than simply “transportation.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “which” and “while,” and the reader can generally identify your main position. However, control is inconsistent, particularly in longer sentences, where agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence boundaries need attention. Examples include “relocating to cities can leads,” “the cities is,” and “cities provides”; these should be “can lead,” “cities are,” and “cities provide.” The opening sentence also ends with the incomplete phrase “is an,” which leaves the introduction unfinished. Some sentences join several independent ideas with commas, making their grammatical relationships unclear. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and dividing long sentences into complete, clearly structured units.
