Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is widely believed that in many nations around the world, rural prople are shifting to urban cities, while the population of hometown people is reducing as compared to city. In my opinion, they are good development for better life in city area.

On the one hand, moving people from village side to big cities are good for individuals, becuse in the city area huge opportunity present as compared to village side, in urban area large number of jobs available, and resturant open at late night, for instance, in pakistan, the peshwer town people can't find job for self and also a lack facility in daily life such as, less electricity, and shortage of school, hospital, so people moving to city for that reason, they surviving entire life in city for numerous facility. I suggest, they are a good plan to transfering from rural area to capital city.

On the other hand, the decreasing number in countryside also face some challenges, especially in agricultural side, in education department, but i strongly agree with this point of view, the disadvantages is less as compared to advantages, for instance, in china, a person lives in town side, he are living in a jont family, then he plan to shift city for better life, so that is good and he spend good life in city as compared to his family.

in conclusion, the population in town side decreasing, they also a negative thing, although, in city side a greater chances are present for people, and i strongly recommended that is good for everyone.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You give a clear overall opinion that rural-to-urban migration is positive, and you offer relevant reasons, including greater job availability and access to schools and hospitals. The Pakistan example helps illustrate why people may leave rural areas. However, the response only partly develops the task: the negative effects are mentioned briefly (“challenges” in agriculture and education) but not explained, and the China example does not clearly show how migration affects either the individual or the countryside. The conclusion also introduces a mixed message by calling the decline “a negative thing” before recommending migration. To strengthen the response, explain the main consequences on both sides and maintain one consistent judgement throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has an introduction, two body paragraphs signalled by “On the one hand” and “On the other hand,” and a conclusion, so there is some basic organisation. The main ideas are generally grouped by paragraph, but progression within them is difficult to follow. For example, the first body paragraph moves from jobs to late-night restaurants, then to shortages in Peshawar, without clearly connecting each point to the central argument. Linking phrases such as “for instance” and “so” are used, but relationships between ideas are sometimes unclear or repetitive. The second body paragraph also shifts from rural challenges to a family’s move without explaining the connection. Use a clearer topic sentence and develop one point at a time.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some task-related vocabulary, including “urban,” “agricultural,” “opportunity,” and “shortage,” which helps communicate the topic. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repeated, such as “city,” “village side,” and “better life.” Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unclear, including “population of hometown people,” “resturant open at late night,” and “good plan to transfering.” Spelling errors such as “prople,” “becuse,” and “peshwer” also reduce accuracy. These issues sometimes make the reader work to understand your meaning. Build a bank of natural phrases for migration and its effects, and check spelling and word forms when editing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, using clauses with “because,” “although,” and “so,” but control is inconsistent. Agreement and verb forms are frequent problems: “moving people … are good,” “opportunity present,” and “he are living” should be corrected. Articles and sentence construction are also often inaccurate, as in “a lack facility” and “the disadvantages is less.” Some sentences combine several ideas with commas, making their structure hard to follow, particularly in the first body paragraph. Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, including lowercase “i” and the run-on ending of the second body paragraph. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then add subordinate clauses while checking subject–verb agreement and sentence boundaries.
