Student answer (Band 5.5)

There is no gainsaying the fact that in a few nations, countryside people are migrated to cities and population of rural areas is decreasing. This statement has both pros and cons. But from my perspective, it is negative development due to its number of demerits.

To commence with, one of the most plausible reasons why migration of rural people to cities is not beneficial is that it leads to the cause of pollution. For instance, when countryside people migrate to cities, they use their vehicles which emit hazardous gases. Due to this, it affects environemnt and people fall prey to ailments such as ashtma, diabetes and soon.As a consequence, migration of people takes a heavy toll on environment.

Futhermore, another reason which cannot be overlooked is that nowadays due to migration, cities become crowded. Due to this, open spaces are converted into concrete jungle. and there is no place left where people do and rejuvenate their fatiques mind.as a result, people suffer from tremendous stress. If there is no place left to walk, how can they rejuevnate their fatiques mind? Besides this, it creates unemployment for cities people.Because, when rural people acquired jobs, cities people have to face the problem of unemployment. Due to this, cities people reel under stress and indulge in bad activities. As a result, cities people have to confront the probl;en of unemployment

In compendium, given the aforementioned information,it is quite evident that there are mutlifarioyus drawbacks of migration. Due to its number od demerits, this is a neagtive development.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you consider rural-to-urban migration a negative development, and you give relevant reasons, including pollution, overcrowding, loss of open space and competition for jobs. However, the response addresses the issue only partially because these points are mostly asserted rather than explained with specific, convincing support. For example, the link between rural migration and increased vehicle emissions is not made clear, and the claim that rural newcomers cause unemployment among city residents needs explanation or an example. The effects on stress are repeated, while the consequences of a declining rural population are not explored. Develop fewer points more fully, and support them with a realistic example to make your argument more persuasive.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and signposts such as “To commence with” and “Furthermore” help indicate the main points. However, progression within the body paragraphs is uneven: the second paragraph moves from crowded cities and lost open spaces to unemployment without a clear link. Several connectors are repeated or used mechanically, including “Due to this” and “As a result,” and the rhetorical question interrupts the argument rather than advancing it. The conclusion restates the position but adds little synthesis. Organise each paragraph around one main reason, explain it in sequence, and use referencing and transitions more selectively so the relationships between claims are clear.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt a range of topic-related and formal expressions, including “hazardous gases,” “concrete jungle,” “reel under stress” and “takes a heavy toll.” However, vocabulary control is limited by frequent spelling errors and inaccurate or unnatural word choices, such as “environemnt,” “ashtma,” “fatiques mind,” “mutlifarioyus” and “neagtive.” Some phrases also sound forced or do not express the intended meaning clearly, including “There is no gainsaying the fact” and “migration takes a heavy toll on environment.” Repetition of “people,” “migration” and “Due to this” further restricts range. Choose simpler, precise expressions when unsure, check spelling carefully, and build topic vocabulary for population movement and urban pressures.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, using clauses introduced by “when,” “because” and “if.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and frequent errors sometimes make the intended relationships difficult to follow. Examples include “countryside people are migrated,” where the verb form is incorrect, and “cities become crowded,” which does not maintain the intended tense consistently with the surrounding discussion. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also unreliable: “concrete jungle. and there is no place…” begins a fragment-like continuation, while several sentences run together without spaces after full stops or commas. Practise accurate subject–verb patterns and verb forms, and proofread each sentence for complete structure and punctuation before moving on.
