Student answer (Band 6.0)

In the present era, many people from country side are moving to urban cities. It is very beneficial for them to get proper facilities like medical and education, which they do not get in rural areas. I believe that it is a positive development, because to get a high pay jobs and to become a financially stronger they need to move to other cities.

One of the main reason, why they are moving from their home place to modern cities. This is because sometimes people do not get a proper medical treatment, due to the lack of high tech machines and they need to travel a lot for daily check ups. For example, if a person is suffering from cancer disease then it is not possible to get a proper treatment such as chemotherapy in rural hospitals. As a result, they have to move to urban cities hospital to get proper medical assistance from highly trained doctors.

Another important reason is that in rural area children are getting proper education, but some schools teach them in local language instead of English. So in future, if they want to become a doctor or engineer they need to communicate with other people in English language. Another factor is that the people who are working in remote areas are not earning huge amount of pay. For example, farmers are growing crops in their fields and to sell them they need to travel to cities or transport the goods via huge vehicles.

In conclusion, there are certain reasons why people are migrating to urban cities. It is a positive development, because many young people migrate to developed cities to make their future bright and improve their standard of living. Only the few amount of people live in rural areas.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the introduction: you consider rural-to-urban migration positive, mainly because it can improve access to healthcare, education and better-paid work. The healthcare example about cancer treatment and chemotherapy gives one reason useful support. However, the education point is not fully clear: you say rural children receive “proper education,” then focus on local-language teaching as a disadvantage, without explaining how moving to a city resolves this or providing a specific example. The point about farmers travelling to sell crops also shifts towards transport and marketing rather than directly showing why migration benefits them. Develop each reason with a clearer link to your position and acknowledge a relevant drawback, such as pressure on city services, to make the discussion more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The main ideas are generally grouped by topic, and signposts such as “One of the main reason,” “Another important reason” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the overall direction. However, some links between ideas are abrupt or unclear. The education discussion moves from local-language schooling to future careers without explaining the connection to migration, while the farmers example does not clearly support the paragraph’s point about low pay. The opening sentence of the first body paragraph is also a fragment, which interrupts the flow. Use topic sentences that state each paragraph’s central argument, then explain and connect each example explicitly to that argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “medical treatment,” “chemotherapy,” “highly trained doctors,” “rural areas” and “standard of living.” These choices make the subject clear, and some phrases show an attempt to be precise. However, several word choices and collocations are unnatural or imprecise, such as “country side,” “urban cities,” “high pay jobs,” “cancer disease” and “huge amount of pay.” Repetition of “proper” also limits variety. Aim for more natural combinations and accurate forms—for example, “the countryside,” “cities,” “well-paid jobs,” “cancer” and “a high income.” This would make your vocabulary more fluent and precise while preserving the clear meaning of your ideas.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a conditional structure in “if they want to become a doctor or engineer” and a result clause beginning “As a result.” Most of the message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “One of the main reason” has a singular/plural agreement problem, and “to become a financially stronger” uses an incorrect grammatical form. The sentence beginning “One of the main reason” is also incomplete because it lacks a main clause. Articles and number are inconsistent in phrases such as “in rural area” and “urban cities hospital.” Work on complete sentence construction, subject–verb agreement, articles and singular/plural forms. More accurate control of these patterns would make your varied sentence attempts easier to read.
