Student answer (Band 5.0)
In many countries rural peoples are moving toward urban areas this and the population in rural areas is decreasing by time for example if i talk about my country most of the people are moving towards cities and leaving the villages.this creates a positive impact on our economy.this is beacause people want to change their life style the want to earn money and get education beacause in rural areas people have lack of resourses and opportunities to get education or jobs thats why they move towards cities. They just migrate and live in cities. This had an impact on the country hence, it improves the economy of country. From my personal experiance i had also moved towards city to improve my life style or to get better education.Every thing has a negative or positive impact but accorrding to me it is good to improve your self or to live a better life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You give a clear overall view that rural-to-urban migration is positive, and you support it with relevant reasons: people seek better employment, education and living conditions. Your personal example of moving to a city also relates directly to the question. However, the response addresses the task only partially because these points are stated briefly rather than explained or illustrated in depth; for example, you say migration “improves the economy” without explaining how. The conclusion is also limited to a general statement that it is “good.” The response is 150 words, below the required 250, which leaves important reasoning and examples undeveloped. To strengthen the answer, explain the economic benefits and consider a possible drawback before reaffirming your position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic line of argument: you introduce migration, give reasons people move, mention your own experience, and end with your opinion. Some linking expressions, including “this is because,” “that’s why,” and “hence,” help show relationships between ideas. However, the response is presented as one long paragraph, and the ideas do not develop in a clear sequence. Several points run together, while “They just migrate and live in cities” repeats the preceding idea rather than advancing it. The use of “hence” does not clearly connect the claim about migration to the economic result. Organise the response into an introduction, separate body paragraphs for reasons and examples, and a conclusion; use linking phrases only where they clarify the logic.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough basic vocabulary to communicate the main topic, including “rural areas,” “cities,” “education,” “jobs,” and “economy.” Phrases such as “better education” and “improve my life style” also convey your intended reasons for migration. However, the range is limited and several choices or spellings are inaccurate, which makes the writing less clear and natural. Examples include “rural peoples,” “lack of resourses,” and “improve your self”; “life style” is also better written as one word. Try using more precise topic vocabulary and checking spelling: for instance, refer to “rural residents,” “limited resources,” and “employment opportunities.” This would help you express the same ideas more accurately and avoid repetition of general words such as “good” and “better.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to connect ideas in longer sentences, for example, “This is because people want to change their life style” and the sentence explaining that people move because of limited education and job opportunities. However, the range of sentence structures is limited, and errors are frequent enough to affect readability. The opening sentence combines several ideas without clear sentence boundaries, and “the want to earn money” lacks the correct subject form. There are also problems with articles, agreement and punctuation, as in “improves the economy of country” and the run-on sequence “They just migrate and live in cities. This had an impact.” Use shorter, complete sentences first, then practise joining them with accurate subordinate clauses. Check sentence boundaries, capital letters, and articles when proofreading.
