Student answer (Band 5.0)

In my openion Migration from countryside to the cities is not a good job. Because it increas the population of cities where already the population is very hige. The villages population decreasing day by day. It affect the environment and the global warming as well. it increase ecnomic pressure on the country and the country have lacke of oportunities to serve th people. In pakistan where we live there are 80% population lives in villages but todays it decreas in ciuntrysides and increase in cities. The wold are going to face difficult challenges now adays. I thnk that this is not good for a developed countries.

In the countrysides there is not the basics needs of living.the people face different challenges in the villages. They have lack of oportunities as compare to the cities. There is no electricity provided them by the government properly. The roads are in very bad condition and the main couse of their migration is that there is no eaducational facilities in the villages. the government should ensure all these facilities for those people.

I want to add my reason to say this, the migration of people from countryside to the cities is that we have limited resources in our country. If they migrates then it increase pressure on the country to mange them in the cituies becaus there is no space in cities tp adjust them. And government shoul ensure the eaducational facilities to the people of villages. so we can manage them. Also the villages are very beautiful and attractive.Own Example, in our villages a man leave our village one year back. he goes tp the city to earn livings. after that he lost his brother who dead in the village and the person not attend the last cermony of his brother. so it is a bad effect of migration.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You give a clear overall view that rural-to-urban migration is negative, and you offer relevant reasons: pressure on city resources, limited services in villages, and the personal cost illustrated by the brother’s funeral. These points show an attempt to address the question and include a personal example. However, the position is not consistently explained: the opening says migration is “not a good job,” while later paragraphs focus on why people leave, without clearly weighing the effects or linking each reason back to whether the trend is positive or negative. Several claims, such as the population figures for Pakistan and the effect on global warming, are asserted rather than explained. Develop fewer points with clearer cause-and-effect reasoning and a more explicit conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic paragraph structure: an opening position, discussion of village conditions, and a final paragraph with further reasons and an example. Some progression is visible, particularly from poor rural services to migration and then pressure on cities. However, the overall line of argument is difficult to follow because ideas are repeated, including the call for educational facilities, and connections between claims are often unclear. Linking phrases such as “I want to add my reason” and “Also” do not always show how the next point relates to the argument. The personal example arrives abruptly and is not clearly tied to the main claim. Use topic sentences, group related points, and add clear links explaining how each example supports your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “migration,” “population,” “limited resources,” “educational facilities,” and “environment.” This gives you a basic means of discussing the topic. However, the range is limited and several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, which sometimes makes the meaning harder to understand: “not a good job,” “lack of opportunities to serve the people,” and “pressure on the country to manage them” are examples. Spelling errors such as “opinion,” “economic,” “countryside,” and “ceremony” also occur repeatedly. Build a bank of accurate topic collocations and check spelling carefully. Prefer precise phrases such as “strain on urban services” and “limited access to education” over repeated general references to facilities and pressure.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both short statements and longer sentences using reasons and examples, but the range of sentence structures is limited and errors are frequent. Problems with verb forms and agreement appear in “The villages population decreasing” and “If they migrates then it increase pressure”; articles and sentence boundaries are also often missing or incorrect, as in “there is not the basics needs of living.the people.” Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, and some sentences run together, making relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with controlled clauses using “because,” “although,” and “which.” Check subject–verb agreement, articles, and full stops during revision.
