Student answer (Band 6.0)

As the world is progressing, so is the minds of young people. People now actually want to change their lives for good. In a lot of countries, people are moving from rural areas to cities, so they can have better opportunities, but this is decreasing the population of countryside. I still think this is a positive development as more people would be able to prove themselves.

In rural areas, people are deprvied of basic facilities. They do not have a stable internet, no proper electricity, and many other things which could serve as an obstacle in achieving their dreams. Due to the advancements in today's world, people are aware of their rights and the things they could achieve through better facilities. For example, my cousins moved from a rural area to a city as they did not have a highschool there, and they wanted to study more.

The population is decreasing which could hurt the Agriculture sector, but people still can travel daily, if feasible, to the countryside for their businesses. They do not actually have to live there in order to earn money. In this way, they could live in a better environment while still doing their jobs.

Everyone in today's world deserves an equal chance in excelling. People should move to cities, if rural areas are acting as an obstacle in accomplishing their dreams. One should avail every opportunity that is available. City life gives exposure to a lot of different things that could help people in different ways and change their lives.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you consider rural-to-urban migration positive because it can give people better access to education and other opportunities. The example of your cousins moving because their rural area lacked a high school makes this point relevant and concrete. You also acknowledge a possible drawback for agriculture, which helps address the issue rather than presenting only one side. However, the agricultural concern is not explored in much detail, and the suggestion that people can travel back to work does not fully explain how this would offset a declining rural population. Develop this counterpoint and support your main claims with more specific consequences or examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: the opening states your view, the body paragraphs give reasons and an example, and the final paragraph restates your position. Ideas generally progress from access to facilities to the effect on agriculture and then to equal opportunity. Linking phrases such as “For example,” “but,” and “In this way” help readers follow the argument. At times, however, connections are broad or slightly unclear. The move from fewer rural residents to people travelling daily for business needs more explanation, and the final paragraph repeats the idea of pursuing opportunities without adding a distinct concluding insight. Make each paragraph’s central point more explicit and connect supporting details directly to it.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use an adequate range of vocabulary to discuss migration, education, facilities, and opportunity, including phrases such as “basic facilities,” “stable internet,” and “Agriculture sector.” Some choices are imprecise or unnatural, which limits the clarity and flexibility of the vocabulary. For instance, “change their lives for good” is ambiguous, while “prove themselves” and “excelling” are broad where more precise wording would strengthen the argument. There are also spelling and word-form slips, including “deprvied” and “highschool.” Aim for accurate collocations and more specific terms, such as describing access to services, employment prospects, or rural economic activity. This would make your ideas sound more precise and appropriately academic.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, and most of the meaning remains clear. The sentence beginning “In rural areas” combines several related points, while “as they did not have a highschool there, and they wanted to study more” attempts to explain a cause. Some grammatical and punctuation issues remain. In “They do not have a stable internet, no proper electricity,” the list needs a parallel structure, such as “They have neither reliable internet nor proper electricity.” The opening “As the world is progressing, so is the minds” has an agreement error, and “people still can travel daily, if feasible” has awkward clause placement. Review agreement, parallel constructions, and punctuation around inserted phrases to improve control.
