Student answer (Band 5.0)
In contemporary society, the issue of growing urban population becoming increasingly, sparking a considerable debate. In numerous regions, villagers are moving towards cities, so that is why citizens in rural areas is falling. From my perspective, this development is negative because cities will be over crowded and it effect environment.
On one hand, it is inevitable that increasing number of peoples in urban will affect us in many ways. Firstly, cities will be crowded and the resources will be low for citizens. The air pollution will also high due to growing in transport. The facilities like hospitals, schools and local parks will be low, so government should set more facilities. For instance,
On the other hand, this issue is profoundly paradoxical and ignore root cause of problem will exagerate the situation. When villagers move towards cities they cannot grow vegetables, fruits and grains for us, so individuals have to face lack or resources.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
Your position is clear in the introduction: you consider rural-to-urban migration negative, mainly because of overcrowding, environmental effects and reduced food production. These points are relevant, but the response addresses the task only partially: the first body paragraph ends with “For instance,” and provides no example, while the second gives only a brief explanation of food shortages. The claim that cities will have fewer facilities is also not fully explained. The response contains 153 words, below the required 250, so several ideas remain undeveloped and the argument lacks a conclusion. To strengthen the response, explain the effects with specific examples, develop each reason, and finish by restating your judgement.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is a basic paragraph structure: an introduction states your view, followed by two body paragraphs that introduce different reasons. The signposts “On one hand” and “On the other hand” help show that the discussion is moving to another point. However, the overall progression is limited: the first body paragraph stops abruptly at “For instance,” and there is no concluding paragraph to bring the argument together. Some links are also unclear or mechanical, such as “so that is why,” and the relationship between the claim about city facilities and the suggestion that government should provide more is not fully developed. Build each paragraph around one clear point, explain its consequence, and use a complete example before moving on.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt some topic-related and less common vocabulary, including “contemporary society,” “profoundly paradoxical,” “root cause,” and “air pollution.” This shows an effort to use a range beyond basic words. However, several choices or combinations are inaccurate or unnatural, which makes parts of the argument harder to follow: “growing urban population becoming increasingly” is incomplete, “resources will be low” is vague, and “grow vegetables, fruits and grains for us” is imprecise. There are also spelling errors such as “exagerate.” Aim for precise collocations and use sophisticated vocabulary only when it fits the meaning. For example, describe pressure on public services or a decline in agricultural production rather than referring generally to “low” resources.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You use both simple statements and attempts at longer structures, including “When villagers move towards cities they cannot grow vegetables…” and a sentence beginning “so individuals have to face…”. However, the longer constructions are often faulty, and frequent errors affect clarity. Examples include “citizens in rural areas is falling” (subject–verb agreement), “cities will be over crowded” (incorrect construction), and “The air pollution will also high” (missing verb). The opening sentence is also incomplete, and “increasing number of peoples” has errors in article use and plural form. Work on complete sentence patterns, agreement, articles and verb forms. Check each sentence for a clear subject and finite verb, and use punctuation to separate connected ideas.
