Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You clearly take a position, stating that rural-to-urban migration is positive, and you give relevant reasons, including access to education, employment, healthcare and reliable services. However, these points are mostly asserted rather than explained or supported with specific examples; for instance, the claim that city life improves literacy is not developed with evidence or a clear explanation. The response therefore addresses the task only partially, with ideas that remain limited and under-developed. The required minimum was not met: the response contains 185 words, and the 20 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Develop each main reason with an explanation and a relevant example, and write enough to meet the task requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some basic organisation: the response gives a positive position, introduces reasons with “firstly” and “secondly,” and ends with a conclusion. These signposts help the reader identify the main points. However, the ideas do not progress clearly within the body paragraphs, and several points are crowded together in long, loosely connected sentences. For example, education, earning opportunities, social skills and competition are combined without clear transitions or explanation. The repeated use of “this” also makes some references unclear. Use separate paragraphs for distinct reasons, connect each claim to its explanation, and vary linking expressions so the organisation feels less mechanical.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some vocabulary relevant to the topic, such as “opportunities,” “literacy rate,” “first aid,” and “work opportunities,” so the main message is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several expressions are inaccurate or awkward, which sometimes makes the reader work to understand your meaning. Examples include “opens up doors of opportunities,” “competeand fo progress,” and “less load sheeding.” Spelling errors such as “developement” and “severage” also affect accuracy. Aim for precise, natural collocations and check spelling carefully. Replacing repeated general terms with topic-specific language about employment, public services and rural access would make your argument clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts to express reasons using both simple statements and longer sentences, but the range of structures is limited and complex attempts are often faulty. For example, “this provide them comfortable life” has problems with subject–verb agreement and article use, while “he spend more time without work” also has incorrect agreement. Several sentences run together without appropriate punctuation, particularly the opening sentence and the long first body point, making relationships between ideas difficult to follow. There are also incomplete or unclear constructions, such as “due to this opens up doors.” Practise building accurate sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use full stops to separate complete ideas before attempting longer structures.
