Student answer (Band 5.0)
People who are belong to rural areas are moving to cities around the world in many countries. However, the population in the countryside is decreasing. I think can be relate on both positive or negative sides. But I think it is a positive development.
People who are moving from rural areas to cities, they take a a good step in their lives. Because, In rural areas they don’t have any opportunity to grow with new innovations and technologies. They also don’t have any better future in backward areas for their children. For example, an IT student who are study in a develop city, he also have opportunity to learn IT skills from any corner of the city. Because competition is growing in the world nowadays.
There are no any options for study and learning something in rural areas. A student who are living in a village. He do not have any opportunities to learning skills or something. There are not any competitor in rural areas. For example, people who live in a village, they face too much difficulty to take their children for study and their better future. Then their children go in cities for their studies or job opportunities.
In conclusion, I always prefer to live in a city. City life gives us very motivations and makes our lives very easier. For example, If a suddenly fell in any serious desease and I live in a city. So, I have a big opportunity to take himself into a hospital and I can make a good treatment there.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You give a clear overall view in the introduction and conclusion: although you acknowledge “both positive or negative sides,” you ultimately say this is positive and explain that city life offers better education, employment prospects and healthcare. These are relevant reasons, and the examples about an IT student and access to a hospital help illustrate them. However, the discussion is only partly developed. The two main body paragraphs repeat the point that rural students have few opportunities, while the effects of rural depopulation itself—such as reduced services or labour shortages—are not considered. The position also sounds uncertain at first. State your view directly and develop distinct reasons with specific, explained examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
Your response has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the reader can follow the general argument that cities provide more opportunities. However, progression between ideas is limited: both body paragraphs focus mainly on education, so the second does not add a clearly different reason. Some linking is mechanical or inaccurate, as in “Because” beginning a sentence after the first paragraph’s opening claim, and repeated use of “For example.” The sentence “A student who are living in a village. He do not…” is also disconnected from the surrounding explanation. Build each paragraph around one distinct point, connect supporting details to it, and use referencing and transitions more naturally.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “opportunity,” “innovations and technologies,” “competition,” and “job opportunities,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repeated, especially “opportunity” and “rural areas.” Some word choices and collocations are noticeably inaccurate, such as “take a good step in their lives,” “backward areas,” and “very motivations.” Spelling errors such as “desease” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise expressions and vary repeated terms—for example, describe access to education, career prospects, or public services rather than repeatedly referring to opportunities. Check spelling and whether words naturally combine in English.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including explanations with “Because” and conditional ideas such as “If a suddenly fell in any serious desease and I live in a city.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and frequent errors sometimes make the reader work to understand the meaning. Examples include “People who are belong,” “an IT student who are study,” and “He do not,” which show problems with verb forms and subject–verb agreement. Articles and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, as in “take a a good step” and the fragment “A student who are living in a village.” Practise building accurate subject–verb sentences first, then join them with conjunctions while checking agreement, articles and punctuation.
