Student answer (Band 5.5)

In many parts of the world, it has become trend people are moving to big cities leaving the country site because in order to avail the infrastructure facilities. As a result, the population of rural areas are shirinking. In my opinion, it is a negative development because it creates serious problem both in the production of food and lives of people living in urban areas.

On the one hand, people from the rural area are migrating to city will be benefited in many ways. when an young individual relocate to urban area it will create the job oppurtunities for them like high salaries, and able to access the superior facilities hospital, schools, banks, colleges and universities. Additionally, the rural areas do not have well constructed roads as the big cities. However the individual from rural area relocating to cities can improve the high standard of living , transportation facilities and build their career.

On the other hand, mass of migration can cause serious long-term problems. the biggest issue decline in agriculture. When young people migrate to cities it will create problem of fewer worker left in the farm land. These labour shortage leads to drop in food production, making the food more expensive for the people. Furthermore, villagers will los their tradition ways of life. At the same time, people relocating to urban areas will become overcrowded creates problem traffic jams, high pollutions and expensive rents. Therefore, many cities cannot handle the overpopulation and put pressure on schools, hospitals and water supply.

In conclusion, i think that people move to cities it will help them to get the job oppurtunities and build their career but it creates the negative developments like overpopulation shortage of labour in rural areas. Hence, it harms the agriculture sector making the big cities overcrowded and difficult to live

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you consider rural-to-urban migration negative, while acknowledging that city residents may gain jobs, higher salaries and better access to services. You address both sides and give relevant consequences, especially reduced agricultural labour, higher food prices and pressure on urban services. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For example, the claim that villagers lose their traditional way of life is not supported with an example, and the benefits of migration are listed more than explored. Develop each main idea through a clearer cause-and-effect explanation or a specific example, and make the conclusion’s final judgement more precise.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs contrast benefits and drawbacks, and a conclusion restates your position. Linking phrases such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” “Furthermore” and “Therefore” help show the relationship between points. At times, however, cohesion is mechanical or the connection between ideas is unclear. For instance, “However” introduces a point that appears to support the benefits rather than contrast with them, and the sentence about city relocation improving living standards and transport is difficult to connect to the preceding sentence. Use transitions according to their precise function and organise each paragraph around one clearly developed central idea.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “agriculture,” “labour shortage,” “overcrowded,” “traffic jams” and “water supply,” which helps communicate the main arguments. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “long-term problems.” However, inaccurate word choice, collocation and spelling are noticeable: “country site” for “countryside,” “avail the infrastructure facilities,” “mass of migration,” and “high pollutions” are not natural expressions. Misspellings such as “shirinking,” “oppurtunities” and “los” also reduce accuracy. Build a bank of natural collocations for migration and urbanisation, and proofread spelling and word forms so your vocabulary communicates ideas more precisely.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex structures, including a conditional clause (“When young people migrate to cities…”) and a relative clause (“people living in urban areas”). The overall meaning is generally understandable, but sentence control is uneven, particularly in longer constructions. Examples include “it has become trend people are moving,” “people from the rural area are migrating to city will be benefited,” and “overcrowded creates problem traffic jams,” where clause structure or verb patterns are incomplete. There are also errors in articles, agreement and sentence boundaries, such as “an young individual” and lowercase sentence openings after full stops. Practise building complete clauses with accurate subjects and verbs, then check articles, agreement and punctuation.
