Student answer (Band 6.0)

In numerous countries all over the world, rural people are migrating to urban areas, hence the population of the countryside is declining . It has adverse effect in the population of cities . In my prospective, this is a negative development . There are several reasons justifying above notion.

Nowadays, people from countryside are now moving to cities. There are several reasons for it such as improving lifestyle, medical emergencies, getting tertiary education, employment etc. Apart from personal growth and benefits of humans, threat is faced by the country itself. For instance, mostly in countryside , majority of the people are employed in agriculture sectors . They grow pulses, cereals, vegetable. They also do poultry farming, cattle farming , horticulture , bee farming, etc, and produce milk products, meat, beef been ,chicken, honey etc. If people will start migrating , then the production of this products will be stopped and people may go through scarcity of such items.

Another reason is overpopulation, already city areas are overpopulated and the migration will make it worse. More infrastucture facilites , more land area, jobs , healthcare sector, etc will be needed, which is not able for government to cope up with. Major issue is failure to provide employment , which may lead to situations such as unemployment, which eventually will affect gross domestic production of a country.

In my perspective, development should be done in countryside itself , so that people can find everything easier to access . I firmly believe that it will lay negative rays on the development and growth of the country.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction: you consider rural-to-urban migration a negative development, and the conclusion restates this view. You address the question with relevant consequences, especially reduced agricultural production and pressure on city services and employment. The examples of farming activities help make the first point concrete. However, the effects are not developed equally: the claim that food production would stop is too absolute, and the discussion of urban pressure would be stronger with a specific explanation or example of how migration worsens unemployment or strains services. The final recommendation to improve rural areas is relevant, but could be linked more explicitly to the problems described. This gives a clear response with some ideas needing fuller support.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting reasons, and a conclusion. The progression from agricultural consequences to pressure on cities is logical, and signposts such as “For instance” and “Another reason” help readers follow the argument. However, some linking is mechanical, particularly the repeated use of “another reason” and “which,” and the opening sentence of the first body paragraph repeats the idea already stated in the introduction. Some relationships between ideas are also unclear; for example, “It has adverse effect in the population of cities” does not clearly explain the connection. More precise referencing and transitions, alongside tighter paragraph development, would make the overall flow smoother.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “tertiary education,” “agriculture,” “horticulture,” “overpopulated,” and “gross domestic production.” These choices show an attempt to discuss the issue specifically, and the meaning is generally understandable. However, several inaccurate or unnatural expressions reduce precision: “in my prospective” for “in my perspective,” “negative rays” for “negative effects,” and “beef been” are examples. There are also spelling errors such as “infrastucture” and “facilites,” as well as awkward collocations like “production of this products.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations rather than long lists of farming products, and check spelling and word forms carefully. This would make your vocabulary more controlled and effective.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex structures, including a conditional sentence (“If people will start migrating…”) and a relative clause (“which may lead to situations…”). The main argument remains understandable, but some grammatical errors occur in sentence construction, articles, plurals, and verb forms. For example, “It has adverse effect” needs an article, while “production of this products” has a number-agreement problem. In the conditional, “If people will start migrating” would normally use “If people start migrating.” Punctuation and spacing around commas and full stops are also inconsistent. To improve control, check each sentence for subject–verb agreement, articles, and singular/plural forms, and use conditional patterns accurately while retaining your attempts at complex sentences.
