Student answer (Band 6.0)
People around the world are moving from rural areas to cities and because of that the population in the countryside is decreasing rapidly. There are several drawbacks to these situation like loss of tradition or culture, lack of skilled worker and poor lifestyle. I believe that this is a negative development for our country.
To begin with, several people often move to big city for their career opportunities and later they starts their own family in that city because of that the children's are not aware of their hometown. They only visit countryside once or twice in a year so the children's do not get the chance to learn about the culture. For example, studies have shown that the children's who lives with their grandparents in countryside are likely to know about the culture as compared with the children's who live with their parents in cities.
There are other drawbacks too like lack of skilled professionals, many of the doctors and engineers are moving to cities which creates shortage of worker in the countryside. Because of healthcare sector people faces a lot of issues and they have to travel to big cities for proper treatments which can be possible in the rural area if qualified doctors are available in the countryside. Due to economic limitations in the rural area people lives very poor lifestyle as compares with urban citizens.
To conclude, the population decrease in the countryside has a lots of negative impacts in our country like, lack of skilled professionals like doctors, loss of the culture, limited resources and poor lifestyle so people should note that and the population should remain stable in the countryside.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction—“I believe that this is a negative development”—and the conclusion consistently restates it. You address the question with relevant reasons, especially the loss of cultural knowledge and the shortage of doctors and other professionals in rural areas. The healthcare example also explains a practical consequence: residents may need to travel to cities for treatment. This meets the task well, and the response shows some development beyond simply listing disadvantages. However, the point about “poor lifestyle” is asserted rather than explained, and the cultural example relies on a broad claim about children and grandparents without showing how this affects communities more widely. Develop these points with specific consequences or a concrete example to make the argument more fully supported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate disadvantages, and a conclusion. Phrases such as “To begin with,” “There are other drawbacks too,” and “To conclude” help signal the progression. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, with repeated use of “because of that,” “like,” and “which,” and several ideas are joined into long sentences. In the first body paragraph, the move from career opportunities to children’s cultural knowledge would be clearer if the cause-and-effect link were expressed in shorter, more controlled steps. The conclusion also repeats the list of disadvantages rather than synthesising the argument. Use a wider range of linking and referencing, and make the relationship between each claim and its example explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “career opportunities,” “shortage,” “healthcare sector,” and “qualified doctors.” These choices show awareness of the subject, and the meaning is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and some word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive: “poor lifestyle,” “lack of skilled worker,” and “proper treatments” are not the most natural expressions in context. “Culture” and “countryside” also recur frequently. Aim for more precise terms such as “quality of life,” “skilled professionals,” and “access to medical care,” while varying references to rural communities. Check plural forms and natural word combinations when editing, as these errors sometimes make the phrasing less fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “because,” “which,” and “if,” so there is some variety in structure. The main message remains understandable, but errors in agreement, plurals, articles, and verb forms occur often enough to affect accuracy. For example, “they starts their own family” should be “they start their own families,” and “the children's who lives” should be “the children who live.” In “people faces” and “people lives,” the plural subject needs a plural verb. Some sentences also combine several clauses without clear control, particularly the sentence beginning “There are other drawbacks too.” Practise checking subject–verb agreement and sentence boundaries, then use complex clauses in shorter, more accurate sentences.
