Student answer (Band 5.0)

Life is the name of experiences, some experiences are good and some are bad. Different people who are living in the countryside want to move toward the cities.Allthough, there are people who are living in the cites would like to settle in the countryside.

According to the first school of thought, life in the developing cities is becoming more comfortable and has an easy access to the all life necessities. As the life of the cities and towns is more modern and easy then life in the rural areas so, many people are planning to settle in the cities. They want to get all necessities of life. For exampe, rural people want to get their treatments from better hospitals and want to study their children from the good schools. According to the above factors, one of my freinds who was living in a village from his childhood really wants to settle in lahore. As he wish and know he is settled in a beautiful town of lahore.

According to the second school of thought, there are also some peope who are willing to move from the cities to the villages. Because they want to relaxe in their lives. And they want peace in their lives and want fresh air of the villages. For example, they want to get rid of lot of noise and disturbances from the busy life of the cities. So, they want peace and relaxation in their lives.

In conclusion, i think moving toward the villages and countrysides is the best option to have some peace. And there should be available better schools, hospitals and all other life needs in the villages.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address the topic by discussing why rural residents move to cities and why some city residents prefer the countryside, and you give relevant examples involving hospitals, schools, noise and fresh air. However, the task asks you to judge whether the decline in the rural population is positive or negative. Your position is not consistently clear: the body paragraphs present both directions of movement, while the conclusion says moving to the countryside is best without explaining directly whether rural depopulation itself is positive or negative. The examples are also brief, and the friend’s move to Lahore does not show the wider effects on rural communities. State your judgement clearly and develop a few reasons that directly support it.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, so the reader can identify its basic structure. The paragraphs also group related points, such as access to services in cities and peace in villages. However, progression is limited because the essay shifts between rural-to-city migration and city-to-rural movement without clearly connecting these ideas to the question about a shrinking countryside population. Phrases such as “According to the first school of thought” and “According to the second school of thought” are repetitive and make the argument sound like a list of opposing views. Some sentence boundaries and spacing are unclear. Use a direct topic sentence in each paragraph and link each point explicitly to your overall judgement.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate basic ideas, including “rural areas,” “necessities,” “hospitals,” “fresh air” and “disturbances.” However, the range is limited and several expressions are repeated, particularly “life,” “peace” and “want.” Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “study their children from the good schools,” “relaxe in their lives” and “the first school of thought.” Spelling errors, including “Allthough,” “exampe,” “freinds” and “peope,” are noticeable and reduce the overall control of vocabulary. Aim for more precise phrases and check spelling; for example, describe access to services and the effects of migration rather than repeatedly referring to “life necessities.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including clauses introduced by “Because” and “As,” but the range is limited and complex sentences are often faulty. Errors occur frequently in sentence structure, articles, agreement and punctuation. For example, “As the life of the cities and towns is more modern and easy then life in the rural areas so” combines connectors in an ungrammatical way, while “one of my freinds who was living in a village … really wants” shifts awkwardly between past and present. The fragment “Because they want to relaxe in their lives” should be joined to the preceding sentence. Review sentence boundaries and practise building accurate complex sentences, especially with subordinate clauses and consistent verb tenses.
