Student answer (Band 5.0)

Many people around the globe are moving from rural areas to cities for better lifestyle, education and industrial opportunities where they can earn more money. However,It can effect the rural life as well as urban.

In my opinion everyone deserves to get quality education, medical services and other opportunities. But,nowadays remote areas are shifting to regional centers or towns, which is a mix of both cities and towns , where quality education, good medical services and other necessities of life are available and also cheaper as compare to big cities but has a resulting effect on our society, remote areas are shifting toward towns while towns are converting to cities.

With increasing in population, air and noise pollution will increase and also inflation will rise which inturn more people will try to move towards cities and the cycle will remain forever.

It will also effect the agricultural lands, as more demand for housing and property will increase.

for example, If we talk about Pakistan the situation is unstable people are moving to big cities and then from cities to abroad for better options, due to unstability and miss management,it is not only affecting the rural areas but the whole country that young energetic generation are moving out for work which they are not getting in their home country.

In my opinion a better solution for this will be to track demand and supply also population.

Imposing strict rules on buying property so on the agricultural side we are safe. Then manage a criteria so towns shouldn't be shifted to cities and also by tracking demand and supply and give proper opurtunities in the cities by keeping a balance.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address the question by expressing a generally negative view and giving relevant concerns, including pressure on housing, pollution, inflation and the loss of agricultural land. The Pakistan example also helps connect the issue to a real context. However, the position is not consistently clear: the opening mainly describes why people move, while the discussion of towns and regional centres makes it difficult to tell whether you see rural-to-urban migration itself as negative or whether you favour movement to smaller towns. Several points are asserted rather than explained, and the proposed solution at the end is not clearly linked to the effects discussed. State your position directly and develop two or three reasons with clearer cause-and-effect explanation and specific support.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some organisation: the response moves from reasons for migration to possible consequences, gives a country example, and ends with suggestions. Basic linking expressions such as “However,” “With increasing in population,” and “for example” show an attempt to connect ideas. Nevertheless, progression is difficult to follow because several different points are crowded into long, loosely connected sentences, and paragraphing is absent. The relationship between rural areas, towns and cities is also unclear in places, particularly in the sentence about remote areas shifting to towns while towns become cities. Use separate paragraphs for your position, main reasons, example and conclusion, and make each paragraph develop one central idea with clear references.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “agricultural lands,” “air and noise pollution,” “demand and supply,” and “young energetic generation.” These choices make the subject clear and show some ability to discuss social and economic effects. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or imprecise, such as “better lifestyle,” “effect the rural life,” “unstability,” and “miss management.” Spelling and word-form errors, including “opurtunities,” also reduce control. Some phrases, such as “track demand and supply also population,” are difficult to interpret. Aim for precise, natural collocations and check spelling; for example, distinguish “affect” as a verb from “effect” as a noun.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional idea about rising population and a sentence explaining the Pakistan example. However, complex sentences are often faulty or run together, and frequent errors sometimes make relationships between ideas hard to follow. Examples include “With increasing in population,” “which inturn more people will try,” and “a better solution for this will be to track demand and supply also population.” There are also problems with articles, agreement, sentence boundaries and punctuation, such as the missing space after “money.” and inconsistent capitalisation after commas. Build accuracy with shorter complete sentences first, then add subordinate clauses carefully, checking that each clause has a clear subject and verb.
