Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is often argued that increasing number of people are migrating from rural areas to urban cities, resulting in a decline in countryside's population. From my perspective this is a positive development for several reasons including better career opportunities and provides accessible learning environment. In this essay i will explain why this is a positive development.

One major reason why i think this is a positive development is that urban cities have better career opportunities and salaries compared to rural areas. This is because urban cities provides economically friendly environment and it has a great amount of working places which can be beneficial for people from rural areas to make living not just relying on their livestock farming. For instance, a study that took place in UB city revealed that the living standart of people who migrated to urban areas improved by 50 percent as opposed to people who still live in countryside. As a result, migrating to urban cities can assist individuals to pursue to their future careers in better living environment.

Another reason is that well-developed cities are educationally accessible for children from countryside. This is largely due to inaccessible learning environment in remote areas. If the students seek high-quality education, they will never acquire that much knowledge in rural areas. Therefore, students from rural areas can expand their knowledge only in well-developed cities. For example, there are a lot of studies showed that children who live in cities have better GPA and quality of education compared to children who live in remote areas. Consequently, it can enhance the chances of being accepted into reputable colleges such as IVY.

In conclusion, migarting to well-developed countries provides great number of opportunities including better studyng environment and high salaries.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the introduction: you consider rural-to-urban migration positive, and both body paragraphs give relevant reasons—employment and education. You also support these points with examples, including the claimed improvement in living standards and the comparison of students’ academic outcomes. This addresses the task, but some ideas are more fully explained than others. The employment paragraph links city jobs to improved livelihoods, while the education paragraph relies on broad claims such as students being able to expand their knowledge “only” in cities and having better GPAs, without explaining why or acknowledging possible disadvantages of population decline in rural areas. Develop the examples and explain their relevance more precisely to make the argument more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two reason-based body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Topic sentences such as “One major reason” and “Another reason” make the main points easy to identify, and connectors including “For instance,” “Therefore,” and “Consequently” help show relationships between ideas. However, the linking can feel mechanical, and some connections are not fully logical. For example, the education paragraph moves from limited rural access to the claim that students can expand their knowledge “only” in cities, which is too absolute to follow from the preceding point. The conclusion also repeats the main benefits rather than drawing the argument together. Use more varied transitions and make each sentence build clearly on the previous one.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary, including “migrating,” “career opportunities,” “reputable colleges,” and “inaccessible learning environment,” so the main ideas are generally clear. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “urban cities,” “economically friendly environment,” “working places,” and “pursue to their future careers.” Spelling and word-form errors—“standart,” “migarting,” and “studyng”—also reduce precision. Aim for natural combinations and check spelling carefully; for example, use “urban areas,” “employment opportunities,” and “pursue their careers.” More precise vocabulary would help you express the argument without relying on broad or awkward phrases.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including conditional structures (“If the students seek high-quality education…”) and clauses explaining causes and results. Most of the argument remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “increasing number of people are migrating” needs an article, “urban cities provides” has subject–verb disagreement, and “it has a great amount of working places” has unclear pronoun reference and an incorrect count expression. Capitalisation is also inconsistent: “i” should be “I,” and “In this essay i will…” needs appropriate punctuation. Review articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, then proofread each sentence to ensure that its subject and verb match and its references are clear.
