Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowadays, many nations around the world, rural people are moving to cities , so the population in the countryside is declining. I think this is a positive development because they have a lot of facilities in cities which is not available in the countryside.
Population plays a vital role in the development of any country. However, people are now moving to urban areas from the rural areas, so that the percentage of the population is decreasing day by day. It may have various factors such as the basic facilities and the way of living. In most rural areas, there are almost no facilities available for the people just and they do not have proper roads to travel, the education level in rural areas is so outdated. Additionally, if there is an emergency situation such as someone wants to go to the hospital , he has to travel a long distance to have proper treatment and because of this, many patients lose their lives due to the procrastination. Moreover, people who live in urban areas, they have all those basic facilities without travelling anywhere. For instance, people who live in urban areas are more updated than rural's people in terms of technology.
Furthermore, If goverment provides all the basic needs that is mandatory for individuals, there will be a massive difference and after that , people would prefer to live in the countryside and they would not move to cities.Government can provide playgrounds for kids, proper roads, better internet facilities and provide the jobs for the survival , this will stop people moving to cities and in this way, the population will not decrease in the rural areas.
In conclusion, this is a positive development because people wants to have better life life and basic facilities which is not available in the countryside.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you consider rural-to-urban migration positive because cities offer facilities that are unavailable in the countryside. You support this with relevant points about roads, education, healthcare and technology, and you also discuss how government investment might encourage people to remain in rural areas. However, the response focuses more on why people move and how to prevent it than on explaining the wider effects of this development. The claim that patients may die because of long journeys is relevant but would benefit from a specific example or fuller explanation, and the final paragraph introduces a solution without clearly connecting it to your judgement. Develop the consequences of migration more fully and keep each example tied to your position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the ideas generally follow a sensible order. Linking expressions such as “However,” “Additionally” and “Furthermore” help signal shifts between points. At times, though, connections are mechanical or unclear: the long sentence beginning “In most rural areas” joins several separate claims, while “Furthermore” introduces government action rather than extending the preceding comparison. Some references are also difficult to follow, as in “this will stop people moving to cities.” Use shorter, more clearly organised sentences, and make the relationship between each paragraph’s main idea and your overall argument explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your main ideas, including “urban areas,” “basic facilities,” “emergency situation” and “proper treatment.” There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “procrastination” and “mandatory,” but these choices do not fit their intended meanings naturally: “delay” would suit the hospital point, while “essential” is more appropriate for basic needs. Repetition of “facilities,” “people” and “rural areas” limits variety, and phrases such as “the way of living” and “rural’s people” are awkward. Build a more precise range of collocations for services, employment and migration, and check spelling, including “government.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, using clauses with “because,” “if” and “which,” so there is some structural variety. However, control is uneven, particularly in longer sentences, and errors sometimes make relationships between ideas harder to follow. For example, “people who live in urban areas, they have” uses an unnecessary repeated subject, while “the education level … is so outdated” has an unclear grammatical relationship between the subject and description. Agreement is also inconsistent in “people wants” and “facilities … which is.” Punctuation around commas and sentence boundaries needs attention. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and divide multi-point sentences into shorter units before adding more complex structures.
