Dear Mrs Barrett,

Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Mrs. Barrett,

I am writing in reply to your recent advertisement for helper in your routine tasks. I have read all the requirements and payment terms in your advertisement.

I believe that I would be the suitable candidate for this role due to my past experience. I have worked part time as a housekeeper last year during my summer vacation of the college. I can easily mange your laundry, cleaning and kitchen. I also provide the service of walking the pets and take care of them. In case of health emergencies I do have first-aid healthcare certification from health council department of the city.

I would like to get this opportunity because I will have summer vacations and could easily manage my time table according to your demand. I would like to mention here that I will not be available on Saturday and Sunday during this assignment due to my online classes.

I hope these expertise of mine would help you to make me fit for this role. I would be happy to provide my further details for the job. I look forward to your response.

Yours sincerely

Dany

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

You address all three points clearly: you offer help with laundry, cleaning, kitchen tasks and pet care; explain that your previous housekeeping experience makes you suitable; and state that you are unavailable at weekends because of online classes. The first-aid qualification adds relevant support to your offer. Your reason for wanting the work is also clear, although it focuses mainly on having summer vacation and being able to organise your timetable; a more personal or specific motivation would develop this point further. The availability information could be more precise by stating which weekdays and what hours you can work. Overall, the letter fulfils its purpose and supports its main ideas, with some scope to extend the motivation and scheduling details.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter follows a sensible progression: you respond to the advertisement, describe your experience and services, explain your motivation and availability, then close politely. Paragraphing helps distinguish these stages, and phrases such as “I would like to mention here” signal a shift to availability. The sequence is clear, but some links feel formulaic, and the final paragraph repeats the idea of suitability already made earlier (“make me fit for this role”). The reference in “these expertise of mine” is also not fully clear, which slightly weakens cohesion. To make the progression more natural, connect related points directly and use a concise closing that adds a clear next step rather than restating your suitability.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range for the purpose, including relevant terms such as “housekeeper,” “first-aid healthcare certification,” “online classes” and “assignment.” These help communicate your experience and circumstances. However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural: “helper for your routine tasks,” “mange your laundry,” “time table according to your demand,” and “make me fit for this role.” There is also a spelling error in “mange,” and “expertise” is not used naturally in “these expertise of mine.” These issues do not prevent understanding, but they reduce precision and fluency. Aim for conventional phrases such as “help with household tasks,” “manage your schedule,” and “suitable for the role.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and more developed sentence forms, including the reason clause in “because I will have summer vacations” and the conditional phrase “In case of health emergencies.” Most of your meaning remains clear, but some grammatical errors occur. For example, “I would be the suitable candidate” needs a different article, and “I also provide the service of walking the pets and take care of them” has inconsistent verb forms. “I have worked part time as a housekeeper last year” also combines the present perfect with a finished past-time expression; use the simple past for that completed period. In the closing, “I would be happy to provide my further details” needs a more natural grammatical construction. Review articles, parallel verb forms and tense choice.
