Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear Mrs Barrett,
I would like to express my interest in advertisement which was particularly for facilitating you in your home for some hours a day next summer.
From last two years I was working in local homes and I enjoy working because of flexible schedule. I could help you in numerous household works such as gardening , dusting , relocating and organizing heavy stuff. Moreover , if you require any assistance for fixing any broken item I would be delighted to help you.
I am a university student , I live far from my parents and I need some money for myself so I start helping people in their homes . Sometimes after classes I am free so I usually watch these advertisements and call people to tell them I am keen to help.
On the weekends I am available for all day so you can call me anytime but on the weekdays I am having classes in the mornings so you need to let me know before so that we can discuss what time could be suitable for both of us.
I hope you would like to call me for help , I enclosed all my details at the back of this letter.
Yours faithfully,
Navpreet Dhillon

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points of the task: suggesting help, explaining the motivation, and detailing availability. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a stranger. However, the development of ideas is somewhat basic. For instance, the explanation of why you want the work is a bit repetitive, focusing heavily on needing money. To reach a higher band, you could expand on your enthusiasm for the specific tasks mentioned, such as gardening or home maintenance, to make your application more persuasive and engaging for the reader.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific requirement of the prompt. You use some cohesive devices like 'Moreover' and 'Sometimes', which help the flow of ideas. However, the transition between sentences is occasionally a bit mechanical. The referencing is generally clear, but the connection between the introduction and the body paragraphs could be smoother. Overall, the message is easy to follow, and the paragraphing is used appropriately to structure the letter.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for this task, using terms like 'facilitating', 'assistance', and 'delighted'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'facilitating you in your home' (which sounds slightly unnatural; 'assisting you' would be better) and 'relocating' (which usually refers to moving house, not moving objects). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band score. Expanding your range of collocations would be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'From last two years I was working' (should be 'For the last two years I have been working') and 'I am having classes' (should be 'I have classes'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spaces before commas. While these errors are noticeable, they do not impede communication. To improve, focus on verb tense consistency and ensuring that your complex sentences are constructed accurately.
