Dear Mrs Barrett,

I hope you are doing well. I am writing this letter on the behalf of that advertisement which i saw on the newspaper last week. You need someone to help in home during summer. I am interested to help you.

I can help with the variety of things like cleaning, doing the laundry, preparing simple meal and some shopping. I will also help you for gardening because i have 2 years gardening experience.

I would like to do this job i am interested to enjoy with others so that i can learn more about others culture and tradition. Fortunately, I believe that working with you helps me to improve my english and also help me improve my communication skills.

I will be available from 1st June to 31st August because i will be on my summer vacations after my next sess

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The letter addresses all three bullet points: suggesting help, explaining motivation, and stating availability. However, the response is incomplete, ending abruptly mid-sentence ('after my next sess'), which prevents the full development of the final point. Additionally, the response falls short of the 150-word minimum requirement. While the ideas are relevant, the lack of a proper closing and the failure to meet the length constraint significantly impact the task achievement score. To improve, ensure all points are fully expanded and the word count requirement is met by providing a complete, coherent conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'I can help', 'I would like to', 'I will'). The abrupt ending of the text disrupts the overall flow and coherence of the letter. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words and transition phrases to connect ideas more fluidly. Ensure that each paragraph has a clear focus and that the letter concludes with a standard formal sign-off, which is currently missing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. Phrases like 'doing the laundry' and 'preparing simple meal' are functional but basic. There are some minor errors in word choice, such as 'on the behalf of that advertisement' instead of 'in response to your advertisement'. The range of vocabulary is limited, relying on simple, repetitive structures. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more specific collocations and descriptive language related to household tasks and personal motivations, while ensuring accurate usage.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response uses a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'I am writing this letter on the behalf of that advertisement which i saw on the newspaper' (incorrect preposition and capitalization) and 'I am interested to help you' (should be 'in helping'). Subject-verb agreement and article usage are inconsistent. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors indicate a need for more careful proofreading and a better grasp of sentence construction. Focusing on basic grammatical accuracy will help improve the overall clarity of your writing.
