Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
The letter addresses all three bullet points of the prompt: suggesting help, explaining the motivation, and detailing availability. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a prospective employer. The ideas are relevant, though some explanations, such as the motivation for wanting to improve communication skills, are slightly repetitive. The purpose of the letter is clear from the beginning, and the reader is left with a good understanding of the candidate's offer. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is developed with more sophisticated reasoning rather than simple statements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific requirement of the task. The progression of ideas is easy to follow. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate, such as the awkward transition 'Because I like to help the people...'. Additionally, there are some punctuation errors, such as starting a new sentence after a comma ('...new to any place, It would be...'), which disrupts the flow. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words would enhance the overall cohesion of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to communicate their intentions clearly. There are some spelling errors ('interst', 'mange', 'bysef', 'grate', 'woud') and minor word choice issues ('to buy grocery' instead of 'grocery shopping'). While the range is sufficient to cover the topic, it lacks the flexibility and precision required for higher bands. The student attempts to use some topic-specific vocabulary related to household chores, which is positive, but the frequent spelling mistakes and occasional awkward phrasing limit the score in this criterion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement ('which you has advertised'), incorrect verb forms ('could be improve'), and sentence fragments or run-on sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the misuse of commas and periods. While the meaning remains clear despite these errors, the high frequency of slips prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would significantly improve the accuracy.
