Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The letter addresses all three bullet points: suggesting help, explaining the motivation, and detailing availability. However, the development of these points is quite basic. For instance, while you mention cooking experience, the explanation of why you want the job is somewhat repetitive and lacks professional tone. The letter is functional and conveys the necessary information, but it would benefit from more detailed elaboration on how your skills could specifically benefit Mrs Barrett's household. The tone is generally appropriate for a letter of application, though the opening salutation 'Dr Mrs Barrett' is slightly unusual.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is logically organized, moving from the purpose of the letter to your skills, motivation, and finally availability. However, the use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes mechanical. There is a lack of varied linking words; for example, the transition between sentences is often abrupt, and the paragraphing is insufficient, as the entire body of the letter is presented as a single block. Improving the use of transition signals (e.g., 'Furthermore', 'Consequently', 'Regarding my availability') would help the flow of ideas significantly.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but remains quite basic and repetitive. You use simple terms like 'help' and 'work' frequently. There are also some spelling errors, such as 'advertisment', 'houshold', 'helpfull', 'resturant', and 'expances'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise vocabulary related to household assistance and professional experience. The range is sufficient to communicate your message, but the frequent spelling mistakes and limited variety in word choice prevent a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response relies heavily on simple sentence structures. While there are some attempts at complex sentences, they are often marred by punctuation errors and run-on sentences, such as 'I love to do cooking thats why i had my studies in that also i am doing further studies in that so i want my part time job.' There are consistent issues with capitalization (e.g., 'i', 'monday', 'tuesday') and missing articles. The grammatical control is inconsistent, and the frequent errors in basic sentence construction and punctuation hinder the overall clarity of the writing.
