Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points: suggesting help, explaining the motivation, and stating availability. However, the development of these points is quite basic. For instance, the availability is stated as '11pm to 4pm', which is likely a typo for 11am, and the explanation for why you want the work is missing entirely (you only mention you are looking for a job). To reach a higher band, you should expand on your skills and provide a clearer, more professional rationale for wanting the position. The tone is generally appropriate for a letter to a neighbor, but it lacks the polish expected for a formal application.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The letter is written as a single block of text, which significantly impacts the coherence. IELTS letters should be organized into clear paragraphs for each main point (introduction, body paragraphs for the requirements, and a closing). There is a lack of cohesive devices; the sentences are mostly linked by simple conjunctions like 'and'. The progression of ideas is somewhat mechanical, and the lack of paragraphing makes the text feel cluttered. Using transition words such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'regarding my availability' would help improve the flow and logical structure of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is functional but limited. You use basic terms like 'manage house', 'pretty good', and 'simple meal'. While these are sufficient to convey the message, they do not demonstrate the range required for higher bands. There are also some minor errors in word choice, such as 'gardning' (spelling) and 'parttime job' (missing article). To improve, try to incorporate more precise vocabulary related to household tasks and professional communication, such as 'maintaining the household', 'tidying', or 'culinary assistance'. The current range is adequate for basic communication but lacks the flexibility needed for a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. These include missing articles ('a part-time job'), punctuation issues (run-on sentences and lack of capitalization for 'I'), and tense/preposition errors (e.g., 'available during 11pm to 4pm'). The sentence structures are predominantly simple, with very few attempts at complex sentences. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors—particularly with basic punctuation and capitalization—distracts the reader. Focusing on sentence variety and proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy would significantly improve your score in this criterion.
