Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The letter addresses all three bullet points: suggesting help, explaining the motivation, and stating availability. However, the development of these ideas is quite limited. For instance, the explanation of 'how you could help' is vague, relying on general statements like 'I am good at house hold work' rather than specific tasks. The tone is also inconsistent; while it attempts a formal letter structure, the phrasing is often informal or awkward, such as 'it's proud for me if i get this job'. To improve, you should expand on specific skills (e.g., cleaning, gardening, or meal preparation) and ensure the tone remains consistently professional throughout the correspondence.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The letter is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical progression between sentences is often weak. The use of cohesive devices is minimal and sometimes misused, such as the abrupt transition 'Furthermore, as a international student'. The lack of proper punctuation, particularly between sentences, makes the flow disjointed. For example, the second paragraph is a run-on sentence that combines several distinct ideas without appropriate conjunctions or full stops. Improving the use of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'additionally', 'therefore') and ensuring each sentence is clearly demarcated with a period would significantly enhance the readability and coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, relying on simple terms like 'work', 'help', and 'do'. There are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'advertised i seen' instead of 'advertisement I saw' and 'do all my stuff' instead of 'manage my household chores'. The spelling of 'barrett' (proper noun) and 'international' (used correctly but in a slightly disjointed context) shows limited control. To reach a higher band, you need to incorporate more precise vocabulary related to household tasks and professional communication, and pay closer attention to standard collocations and word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The grammatical range is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with frequent errors. There are significant issues with subject-verb agreement ('i made breakfast', 'i had habit'), article usage ('a international student'), and sentence structure (run-on sentences). Punctuation is largely ignored, with missing commas and periods, which forces the reader to pause frequently to decipher the meaning. While the message is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic structures prevents the text from reaching a higher band. Focusing on sentence boundaries, correct verb tenses, and basic punctuation will help improve your accuracy significantly.
