Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The letter covers all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly suggest how you can help (cooking and cleaning), explain your motivation (school volunteer project), and provide your availability. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a neighbor. To reach a higher band, ensure that your ideas are slightly more developed; for instance, you could elaborate on the specific types of dishes you can prepare or the nature of the deep cleaning tasks. Overall, the response is well-focused and fulfills the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for the specific requirements, and a polite closing. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different ideas. You use some cohesive devices like 'Not only this but also' and 'However', which help the flow of the text. To improve, try to vary your linking words further and ensure that transitions between sentences are smoother. For example, the transition between your cooking skills and cleaning skills could be more fluid. Overall, the information is easy to follow and the progression is logical.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'advertisement', 'household work', and 'available'. However, there are some minor errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'cousine' (cuisine) and 'perfect cook' (which sounds slightly unnatural; 'accomplished cook' would be better). You also use some repetitive phrasing. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and ensure accurate spelling of common terms. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your message clearly, expanding your range of descriptive adjectives and verbs would help you achieve a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'I have completed cookery course' (missing an article), 'I am working part time work' (redundant), and 'through Monday to Friday' (should be 'from Monday to Friday'). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but there are some minor issues with comma placement. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher band. Focus on proofreading for articles, prepositions, and verb tense consistency to improve your accuracy.
