Mrs Barrett, an English-speaking woman who lives in your town, has advertised for someone to help her in her home for a few hours a day next summer.

Write a letter to Mrs Barrett. In your letter

• say why you would like to do this work
• explain when you will and will not be available

Dear Mrs Barrett,

I am writing in response to your advertisement for someone to assist you next summer, and I am quite interested in doing this job.

I could help you with household chores such as cleaning, doing the laundry and preparing meals. I am very particular about keeping things tidy, so I would be happy to help you keep your home clean and organised. Moreover, I am experienced in grocery shopping, so I could also help you with buying groceries if required. As I am a responsible and organised person, I believe I could make your daily routine easier.

During the summer vacation, I would like to earn some extra income, which would help me pay my college fees. Moreover, I enjoy helping people and making a positive difference to their lives. Most importantly, I think this would be a great opportunity to improve my English communication skills by communicating regularly with an English-speaking person.

I will be available from Monday to Saturday, between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., throughout May, June and July. However, I will not be available on Sundays due to family commitments. I would be happy to discuss the working hours and duties at your convenience.
