IELTS Writing Task 1 question

Mrs Barrett, an English-speaking woman who lives in your town, has advertised for someone to help her in her home for a few hours a day next summer.

Write a letter to Mrs Barrett. In your letter

• suggest how you could help her in her home
• say why you would like to do this work
• explain when you will and will not be available

You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Begin your letter as follows:

Dear Mrs Barrett,

Dear Mrs Barnett,

Hope you are doing well. My name is Sam, I also reside in your town. I am writing this letter in response to your advertisement in which you asked for help in your home for few couple of hours a day starting from next summer.

I would like to offer my gardening skills to help you out to maintain or recreate your garden. I could do grass trimming, watering and fencing for the garden so that it not only does look aesthetically good but also protect fruits or flowers from pests. Regular watering is an essential practice for summer days. I have my own gardening equipment which I can bring to your house through my pickup truck.

Gardening and volunteering is my passion and when I saw your advertisement I found it perfect for me. Because I could work at your home for few hours, in anyway, it would not effect my work schedule.

In order to perform this tasks in your home and considering my work schedule commitment, I could be available since 7am morning to 9am morning for 2 hours on weekends only.

Please let me know about your decision so that I can schedule my activities accordingly.
