Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter covers all three bullet points required by the prompt: suggesting help, explaining the motivation, and clarifying availability. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter to a neighbor. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of why you want the work is a bit repetitive and lacks a professional focus, as mentioning 'earning good money' is less relevant to a potential employer than emphasizing your reliability or desire to assist. To reach a higher band, ensure that all ideas are fully extended and focused on the recipient's needs rather than personal gain.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. You use basic cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Also', and 'Finally' to link your points. However, the transition between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing could be improved to make the flow more natural. For example, the connection between your interest in cooking and your future financial goals is a bit abrupt. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your message clearly. You use relevant terms such as 'household chores', 'laundry', and 'grocery stores'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there is a reliance on simple, repetitive phrasing (e.g., 'I love to...'). To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more precise and varied vocabulary related to domestic assistance and professional communication. For example, instead of 'difficult tasks', you could use 'demanding responsibilities' or 'specialized assistance'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There is a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are several recurring errors that affect the quality of the writing. You have issues with capitalization (e.g., 'i' instead of 'I'), spelling ('woluld'), and punctuation. Additionally, some phrasing is slightly awkward, such as 'looking forward for your response' (should be 'to'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they are frequent enough to impact the overall accuracy. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical conventions and sentence structure would significantly improve your score.
