Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Barrett,
I am your neighbour, stays just one home away from your home. I would like to help you in making a advertisement for the help you require for a couple of hours during next fall.
I am from digital marketing background and currently, I am working as a advertised product manager for my organisation. So, I can make best advertised banner that we can stick at the community wall, so people can know about this oppourtunity who are free in the summer and they can help you as well.
Every morning when I wake up 7 in the morning, I used to stand you at my balcony for fresh air for about 10 minutes and I noticed that in the age of 50s you are going by walking to collect the groceries, So every day I feel discourage of not helping you because of my busy schedule. But, my corporation is going for maintanence for 2 months and they had give me work form home, so in fall first 2 months, I am totally free and I can help you with every activities throughout your day, If there is nobody availble to help you as well.
Feel free to message me anytime and waiting for your response.
Your faithfully,
Shivam Patel

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt, although the content is slightly confused. You suggest helping with advertising rather than household tasks, which is a bit unusual given the prompt asks for help 'in her home'. You explain your motivation and availability, though there is some confusion regarding the timing (mentioning 'next fall' versus 'next summer'). The tone is generally appropriate for a letter to a neighbor, though the opening 'Dear Barrett' is slightly informal and should be 'Dear Mrs Barrett'. To improve, ensure your suggestions align more closely with the typical expectations of household assistance.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your ideas. However, the logical progression is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing and sentence structure. For example, the transition between your job as a product manager and the offer to help with groceries is a bit abrupt. You use some cohesive devices, but they are occasionally used incorrectly, such as 'So, I can make best advertised banner'. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would enhance the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your message, but there are several instances of incorrect word choice and collocation. For example, you use 'advertised product manager' instead of 'advertising product manager' and 'discourage' instead of 'discouraged'. Additionally, 'maintanence' is misspelled. While your meaning is generally clear, these errors and the repetitive use of the word 'advertised' limit your score. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and checking for common word-form errors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('stays just one home away'), missing articles ('in age of 50s'), and incorrect verb tenses ('they had give me'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma splices and capitalization. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would significantly improve your accuracy.
