Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Mrs Barrett,
I saw your advertisement for help with your home chores for next summer. I can do it very well, as I know how to cook and clean. Moreover, taking care of laundry and everyday dishes. These are the things I am used to and do with efficiency.
I would love to do these chores with you in your home. My family always taught me to help others, especially women.
Moreover, I like to keep myself busy all day, so I can stay away from my negative habit of watching social media every day.
Although I can work with you on weekdays from 9 am to 6 pm in the evening and on weekends I can only work in the mornings from 6 am to 9 pm. Because I will be studying for my diploma next summer, that's why i have to attend weekend classes for my results.
your faithfully,
Kuwerinder Singh.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter covers all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly state how you can help (cooking, cleaning, laundry), explain your motivation (family values and personal productivity), and provide your availability. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of why you want the work is a bit simplistic, and the section regarding your availability contains a logical inconsistency (stating you are available on weekends from 6 am to 9 pm, which is a 15-hour shift, while also mentioning you have weekend classes). To reach a higher band, ensure your ideas are more fully extended and logically consistent.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your points. You use some cohesive devices like 'Moreover' and 'Although' to connect ideas. However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by awkward phrasing, such as the sentence fragment 'Moreover, taking care of laundry and everyday dishes.' Additionally, the transition between your availability and the reason for your schedule is slightly disjointed. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus will help improve the overall flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your message clearly. You use some relevant terms like 'advertisement,' 'chores,' and 'efficiency.' However, the range is somewhat limited and repetitive. There are also minor issues with word choice, such as 'negative habit of watching social media,' which sounds slightly unnatural. To improve, try to incorporate more varied and precise vocabulary related to household tasks and professional communication. For example, instead of 'do it very well,' you could use 'possess the necessary skills' or 'am highly proficient in.'
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors. For example, 'Moreover, taking care of laundry and everyday dishes' is a sentence fragment. There is also an issue with the use of 'that's why' following a 'Because' clause, which is redundant. Punctuation and capitalization errors, such as 'i' instead of 'I' and the incorrect sign-off 'your faithfully' (should be 'Yours faithfully'), also detract from the professional tone of the letter. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and sentence completeness.
