Dear Mrs Barrett,
Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Mrs Barrett,
I hope you are in good health. I saw the advertisement that you mentioned in the community post. I am searching for the same because I need to learn and earn at the same time for my summer vacation period. Recently I enrolled my self in the Eldercare management course and my previous job was housekeeping that is why I can easily handle all household chores such as cleaning, cooking and laundry and also arrange the room even I have knowledge about gardening meanwhile arranging stuff I can do gardening before going back to my house.
As I mentioned earlier I am learning about elder care management and with domestic work experience I can easily manage this job because at home I am the elder one to look after younger brothers and grandmother whenever my parents are out of the station that why I know how to manage and really enjoy doing all household work which is somehow beneficial for my further studies and job profile.
One thing I needed to be guided was about time. As I earlier mentioned that now I am pursuing a part-time course I am not able to stay up late at night and come early morning because I have my class 7 am to 9 am. Therefore, my suitable time schedule was from 10 am morning to 6 pm evening. I would be grateful if you were concerned about this.
I would really appreciate it if you consider my request. I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours Sincerely,
XYZ

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: suggesting how you can help, explaining your motivation, and clarifying your availability. The ideas are relevant and clearly presented. However, the development of these points is slightly repetitive, particularly in the second paragraph where you reiterate your domestic experience. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph adds distinct value to your application rather than restating previous points. The tone is generally appropriate for a letter to a neighbor, though it could be slightly more formal to reflect a professional application.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific requirement of the task. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'As I mentioned earlier' and 'Therefore', to link your ideas. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally hindered by slightly awkward phrasing, such as 'even I have knowledge about gardening meanwhile arranging stuff'. Improving the use of transition words and ensuring smoother sentence-to-sentence connections would enhance the overall readability. The paragraphing is appropriate and contributes to the logical progression of your message.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'household chores', 'domestic work experience', and 'pursuing a part-time course'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'searching for the same' (which is vague) and 'out of the station' (which is non-standard English for 'out of town'). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. Focusing on more natural collocations will help improve your lexical score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'I enrolled my self' (reflexive pronoun error), 'that why I know' (missing 'is'), and 'my suitable time schedule was' (tense inconsistency). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some run-on sentences that lack necessary commas. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of relative clauses. Despite these errors, the communication is not impeded, and the reader can easily follow your request.
