Mrs Barrett, an English-speaking woman who lives in your town, has advertised for someone to help her in her home for a few hours a day next summer.

Write a letter to Mrs Barrett. In your letter

• suggest how you could help her in her home
• say why you would like to do this work
• explain when you will and will not be available

Begin your letter as follows:

Dear Mrs Barrett,

Dear Mrs. Barrett,

I am writing you a letter regarding your advertisement for a job at your home. I would like to inform you that I am highly interested in helping you.

Firstly, I assure you that I can assist you with cleaning tasks. I have experience in cleaning the house including dusting, sweeping or vacuuming the floor, mopping, cleaning the bath tubs, basins, kitchen sinks. Moreover, the other task I can do is help in the kitchen. I can cook various kinds of delicious food, and wash the dishes.

Actually, I am in need of a job during summer as I will be on lay off period from my work and I will be free for the entire June month. Doing this job will be very beneficial for me financially.

Also, my availability will be from Monday to Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. However, I can come for 4 hours on weekends, which are from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
