Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Mrs Barrett,
I hoping you are doing great. I am Ramandeep Kaur who lives nearby your house. I am writing this letter because I saw your advertisement in yesterday's newspaper regarding help in your home.
Actually, I was also looking for job especially in housekeeping. I can do all household chores like cleaning, dusting, washing. I can even lift heavy weights if you have anything to shift to any other rooms or somewhere else in your home. Moreover, I am really good at cooking different cuisines.
The main reason, why I would be happy to work is that I have experience in housekeeping. I used to work for a homehold company back in India. I had worked for more than a year.
I will be waiting for your response. If I am suitable for this job then I would be able to start my job from the coming Monday 3rd of the September.
Yours lovingly,

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: suggesting how you can help, explaining your motivation, and stating your availability. However, the response is somewhat underdeveloped. For instance, while you mention availability, you do not explain when you will 'not' be available, which was a specific requirement of the task. The tone is generally appropriate for a letter to a neighbor, though the closing 'Yours lovingly' is far too intimate and inappropriate for a professional or semi-formal request for employment. To improve, ensure you address every aspect of the prompt explicitly and use a more standard closing like 'Yours sincerely' or 'Best regards'.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your points. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover' and 'The main reason', which assist in linking ideas. However, the progression of ideas is occasionally disjointed, and the transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs could be smoother. The referencing is generally clear, but the overall structure feels a bit mechanical. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that flows naturally into the next.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to communicate your message effectively, such as 'advertisement', 'housekeeping', and 'cuisines'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'homehold company' (likely meaning 'domestic agency' or 'cleaning company') and 'I hoping' (grammatical error affecting lexical accuracy). The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. To improve, try to use more specific collocations related to employment and household tasks, and ensure you are using the correct word forms in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. For example, 'I hoping you are doing great' should be 'I hope you are doing well', and 'I am Ramandeep Kaur who lives nearby your house' should be 'who lives near your house'. Additionally, 'I had worked for more than a year' is slightly awkward in this context. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they indicate a need for more consistent control over basic verb tenses and prepositional usage.
