Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: suggesting how you can help, explaining your motivation, and clarifying your availability. However, the development of these points is somewhat limited. For example, the explanation of your availability is confusingly phrased, making it difficult for the reader to understand exactly when you are free. While the tone is generally appropriate for a letter, the content lacks the necessary detail to fully convince the reader of your suitability for the role. To improve, ensure that your explanations are clear and provide enough specific information to satisfy the requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your ideas. You use basic cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'Lastly' to signal the structure of your response. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the logical progression within paragraphs is occasionally hindered by grammatical issues. For instance, the transition in the third paragraph is abrupt. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that the relationship between your ideas is more naturally connected.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your main points effectively. You use some relevant terms like 'chores', 'volunteering', and 'assistance'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and minor errors, such as 'over town information' instead of 'local information' and 'over colony' instead of 'our neighborhood'. These errors do not prevent understanding, but they do limit the precision of your writing. Expanding your range of collocations and practicing word forms will help you express your ideas more naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the letter. Examples include 'I am writing this letter to informed you' (should be 'inform'), 'I am only single daughter' (should be 'the only daughter'), and 'I am feel' (should be 'I am free'). These errors are noticeable and occasionally distract the reader, though they do not completely impede communication. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct verb tense usage, and basic sentence construction to ensure your writing is more accurate.
