Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter covers all three bullet points: suggesting help, explaining the motivation, and stating availability. However, the development is somewhat basic. While you mention household chores and companionship, the tone is slightly informal and repetitive. The explanation of availability is clear, though the phrasing is a bit clunky. To reach a higher band, ensure that your ideas are expanded with more professional language and a more consistent tone suitable for a formal letter to a potential employer. You have addressed the prompt effectively, but the lack of formal structure and some awkward phrasing limits the depth of the response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The letter is generally coherent, but the paragraphing is non-existent, which makes the text feel like a single block. While you use some cohesive devices like 'moreover', 'furthermore', and 'on top of that', their usage is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural. The progression of ideas is logical, moving from your skills to your motivation and finally to your availability. To improve, you should use clear paragraph breaks to separate the different sections of the letter and work on using a wider variety of linking words to connect your sentences more fluidly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, but it is quite limited and contains several errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'laundary' instead of 'laundry' and 'intrested' instead of 'interested'. You rely on basic vocabulary like 'help' and 'work' repeatedly. While you attempt to use some descriptive language, such as 'refreshed' and 'overwhelmed', the usage is not always precise. To achieve a higher score, focus on using more varied and accurate vocabulary related to household tasks and professional communication, and pay closer attention to spelling accuracy.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the letter, including issues with verb tenses ('I had seen', 'I had experience'), article usage, and sentence structure. For example, 'I am intrested to help you' should be 'I am interested in helping you'. Many sentences are run-on or lack proper punctuation. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevents the text from reaching a higher band. You should focus on subject-verb agreement, correct preposition usage, and ensuring that your sentences are grammatically complete.
