Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You clearly outlined how you can help (cooking, dusting, shopping), explained your motivation (gaining experience for your hotel management course), and specified your availability (mornings only). The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a potential employer. To reach a higher band, ensure that your ideas are slightly more developed; for instance, you could briefly elaborate on why your hotel management background makes you particularly well-suited for these specific household tasks. Overall, the response is purposeful and covers all requirements effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for each requirement, and a polite closing. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the task, which helps the reader follow your points easily. You use some cohesive devices such as 'However' and 'Additionally' to link ideas. To improve, try to vary your transitions further and ensure that the flow between sentences is smoother. For example, the transition between your availability and your reason for wanting the job could be more fluid. The paragraphing is appropriate and contributes to the overall clarity of the message.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'household duties', 'pursuing', and 'resposibility'. However, there are some minor spelling errors (e.g., 'resposibility') and some slightly unnatural phrasing, such as 'I am living in this town since my childhood' (should be 'have lived'). While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the flexibility and precision required for higher bands. To improve, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and ensuring accurate spelling of common professional terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are some grammatical inaccuracies, such as 'I am living in this town since my childhood' (present perfect continuous is needed) and 'I have a vacation for two months' (should be 'I am on vacation'). Additionally, there are some punctuation errors, such as unnecessary commas after 'As' and 'The reason'. While these errors are noticeable, they do not impede communication. To improve, pay closer attention to verb tenses and avoid unnecessary punctuation that disrupts the flow of your sentences.
