Dear Mrs Barrett,
Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Mrs Barrett,
I am writing this letter to offer my full support to do your household chores to ease your burden in the upcoming summer.
With over multiple years of experience helping various clients in their household activities such as mopping, cleaning, laundry, and dishwashing. Moreover, I can also follow your instructions in the kitchen to help you in the morning because it is the most crucial time of the day when everyone has to go out for their work.
I am profoundly passionate about it and expertise in this field made me different from common people. I enjoy doing it as this is the work I am doing for my whole life staring from my childhood to my elder stage of life. Apart from that it would be an extra source of income to pay for extra stuffs like children education and house rent.
My main job starts in the late afternoon therefore, I will be available in the morning for 4 hours I can start early as per your requirements.
Kindly let me know if you need more details and I will be waiting for your response.
Thanks,
Yours sincerely,
Gaurav Kumar

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed all three bullet points of the prompt effectively. You clearly outlined how you could help (cleaning, laundry, kitchen assistance), explained your motivation, and specified your availability. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a potential employer. To reach a higher band, ensure that your ideas are fully developed; for instance, while you mention your experience, providing a specific example of a past responsibility would have strengthened your application. Overall, the response is well-focused and meets the requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized with clear paragraph breaks that separate the different requirements of the task. You use some cohesive devices like 'Moreover', 'Apart from that', and 'Therefore' to link your ideas. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical or slightly awkward, such as the start of the second paragraph, which is a sentence fragment ('With over multiple years...'). Improving the flow between sentences would enhance the overall readability. The progression of ideas is clear, and the letter follows a standard, professional structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for this task, using terms like 'profoundly passionate', 'crucial time', and 'household chores'. There are some minor issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'staring from my childhood to my elder stage of life' (should be 'starting' and 'later stages') and 'extra stuffs' (stuff is uncountable). While you attempt to use more sophisticated language, some phrasing remains slightly unnatural. Focusing on more precise collocations will help you achieve a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. For example, the second paragraph begins with a sentence fragment, and there are issues with verb tense and subject-verb agreement, such as 'expertise in this field made me different' (should be 'my expertise'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they are frequent enough to impact the overall accuracy. Increasing your control over complex sentence structures and proofreading for basic errors will improve your score.
