Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 8.0
The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You clearly outline the household tasks you can perform, explain your motivation for the work, and provide specific details regarding your availability. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a neighbor. The ideas are well-developed and relevant, providing a clear picture of how you can assist Mrs. Barrett. The structure is logical, and the content is fully aligned with the requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 8.0
The letter is well-organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for each requirement, and a polite closing. Each paragraph focuses on a single topic, which aids readability. You use cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Additionally', and 'Regarding my availability' to link your ideas effectively. The progression of information is logical and easy to follow. The paragraphing is appropriate for a formal letter, and the overall flow is smooth, meeting the requirements for a high band score.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
You demonstrate a good range of vocabulary suitable for the task, such as 'keen interest', 'nutritious', and 'prior family commitments'. There are some minor issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'moping' (which should be 'mopping') and 'doing groceries' (which is more naturally phrased as 'grocery shopping'). However, these errors do not impede communication. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly and effectively throughout the letter.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures with generally good control. There are a few minor grammatical slips, such as 'Being a resident of the same community I would love...' (which requires a comma after 'community') and 'have driver's license' (which needs an article: 'a driver's license'). Despite these occasional errors, the majority of your sentences are error-free, and your meaning is always clear. The punctuation is generally accurate, and the overall grammatical control is strong.
