Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: suggesting help, explaining your motivation, and clarifying your availability. The tone is generally appropriate for a letter to an acquaintance. However, there is a significant contradiction in your availability section: you state you cannot help Monday to Thursday, but then claim you are available from Wednesday to Sunday. This inconsistency makes your schedule unclear for the reader. To improve, ensure your ideas are logically consistent and fully developed. The purpose of the letter is clear, and you have maintained a consistent focus on the task requirements throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your points. You use some cohesive devices like 'to commence with', 'furthermore', and 'thus'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural. Additionally, the transition between the second and third paragraphs is a bit abrupt. The logical flow is occasionally hindered by the contradictory information regarding your availability. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words more naturally and ensure that the progression of ideas within and between paragraphs is seamless and logical.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message, such as 'maintaining its hygiene', 'keen interest', and 'applied science'. However, there are several errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'adviserment' (advertisement), 'cleaniless' (cleanliness), 'mome' (mom/mother), and 'futhermore' (furthermore). These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning. To improve, focus on proofreading for spelling accuracy and expanding your range of collocations related to household tasks and professional communication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'I have writing to you' (I am writing to you), 'I growed up' (I grew up), 'it also help me' (it also helped me), and 'I beilieve on decision' (I believe in your decision). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing after commas and periods. While the meaning remains clear, the high frequency of errors in basic verb tenses and subject-verb agreement limits your score. Focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for tense consistency.
