Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points: suggesting help, explaining the motivation, and detailing availability. The tone is generally appropriate for a letter to an acquaintance, though it leans slightly informal. The ideas are relevant, but the development is somewhat basic. For example, the explanation of why you want to help is clear but could be expanded with more specific details about your personality or previous experience to make the application more persuasive. Overall, the task requirements are met, but the response lacks the depth and professional polish expected at higher band levels.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The letter is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'moreover' is used twice in close proximity). There are also issues with sentence-level cohesion, such as the run-on sentences in the first paragraph ('...in day and i will...'). The transition between ideas is sometimes abrupt, and the punctuation is inconsistent, which occasionally disrupts the flow of the text. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring proper sentence boundaries would significantly improve the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but remains quite basic. You rely on simple phrases like 'do your laundry' and 'take care of everything.' There are some minor errors in word choice, such as 'late age' instead of 'old age' or 'later years,' and 'fouced' (spelling error). To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise collocations and a wider range of vocabulary related to household tasks and professional communication. The current range is sufficient to convey your meaning, but it lacks the flexibility and precision required for a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with verb tense ('i will helped you'), subject-verb agreement, and capitalization (e.g., 'barrett', 'monday'). The sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often contain errors, such as the run-on in the first paragraph. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing commas and incorrect spacing. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of basic errors in grammar and punctuation prevents a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic tense consistency and capitalization would be a great first step.
