Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The candidate has successfully addressed all three bullet points required in the prompt. You suggested how you could help Mrs Barrett by detailing tasks such as 'cooking, cleaning, laundry, and gardening'. You explained why you would like to do this work by mentioning your interest in her English proficiency and personal future development. Furthermore, you clearly outlined your availability, stating you can start from March 31, 2027, working up to 20 hours and 5 days a week with weekends off. The tone of the letter is appropriately formal and polite throughout, maintaining a suitable semi-formal or formal register for corresponding with an older resident in town. All parts of the task are well-covered with relevant, clear, and extended ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter exhibits a clear logical organisation and progression from the opening purpose to specific details about experience, availability, and finally the call to action. Paragraphing is used appropriately and separates distinct themes effectively. Cohesive devices are employed reasonably well to link ideas, such as 'To begin with,' 'Moreover,' and 'Additionally,' though some transitional phrasing feels slightly mechanical. Referencing throughout the response is generally clear, and the overall arrangement guides the reader smoothly from the introduction to the closing sign-off without significant disruption to the flow of information.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The candidate demonstrates a sufficient range of vocabulary with some flexibility and precision appropriate for a general correspondence task. Phrasing such as 'extensive experience working as a house-help,' 'government certified child-care professional,' and 'identity proof and resume' shows good control over functional topic-specific vocabulary. While there is a minor lexical slip in the phrasing 'writing share my interest' missing a preposition, and 'upto' should be two words, the vocabulary used is more than adequate to convey precise meanings. Less common items are attempted with a generally solid awareness of appropriate style.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, incorporating relative clauses and compound-complex sentences effectively. There are, however, some noticeable grammatical errors. For instance, in the second paragraph, there is a subject-verb agreement error: 'I have extensive experience working as a house-help and has served numerous homes till date,' where 'has' should be 'have'. Additionally, the phrase 'writing share' is missing the infinitive marker 'to'. Punctuation is generally sound, and while these errors do occur, they rarely impede communication and the majority of sentences remain clear and comprehensible.
