Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have successfully addressed all bullet points required by the task prompt. You suggested how you could help by offering housekeeping duties, making meals, and washing utensils. You stated why you would like to do this work, explaining that you are looking for a part-time job to manage your expenses. Finally, you explained your availability clearly by stating you are free on Tuesdays and weekends. Although the opening salutation 'Dear helpBarrett' is slightly unnatural for a formal letter to an individual, the core functions of the letter are fulfilled. The response is fully developed and covers all parts of the task appropriately, warranting a Band 6.5.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is generally coherent and arranged with a logical progression of ideas. You divided your points into readable paragraphs, discussing your offer of help first, followed by your motivation and availability, and finally inquiring about the salary before signing off. However, some mechanical cohesive devices and referencing issues are present, such as repetitive sentence structures and a somewhat informal flow. For instance, phrases like 'The reason for why i am doing this job is' could be structured more fluidly. Paragraphing is used sufficiently for a short letter, though transitions between thoughts could be smoother, which places your cohesion score at a solid Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, but it contains several word choice errors and unnatural collocations. For example, you wrote 'your advertise' instead of 'your advertisement', and 'making meal' instead of 'preparing meals' or 'making meals'. You also used 'utensils' where 'dishes' or 'kitchenware' would be more appropriate in a household cleaning context. While you attempted some less common vocabulary such as 'actively looking' and 'houskeeping', errors in spelling and word form prevent you from achieving a higher score. Communication is not impeded, but the lexical range and accuracy best reflect a Band 5.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You have attempted a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'I am writing this letter about your advertise that you are seeking for someone who can help you...' However, there are numerous grammatical errors throughout the text. These include missing capitalization on the pronoun 'I', incorrect prepositions ('help you at your home' instead of 'help you in your home'), and tense inconsistencies or awkward phrasing like 'what kind of help are you looking for ?' with an unnecessary space before the question mark. Punctuation errors also occur before commas. Because these errors occur frequently but rarely impede overall understanding, your grammar score is a Band 5.5.
