Dear Mrs Barret,
I am Harpreet Kaur, living in your city Bhucho Mandi. I hope you are doing great. I am writing to tell you that I am interested for the job position that you have posted on the city board last week.
I am a student and has four month break from my college. In term of fullfiling my tution fees and living expenses, I need this job.As I am not going college, I can work seven days a week at any time.
As you are an english lady and it would be easy for us to adjust with each others because I can speak english language very well. I can help you in cooking, cleaning, laundry and for gardening too. I used to help my mother before college so I am quite good at housechores.
I hope you will call me soon for the formal interview and I will start working soon at this position. I will wait for your response.
Yours faithfully,
Harpreet

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The candidate successfully covers all three bullet points required by the task prompt. First, the writer suggests specific household help such as "cooking, cleaning, laundry and for gardening too." Second, the reason for wanting the work is clearly stated, explaining that the income is needed "in term of fullfiling my tution fees and living expenses." Third, the availability is clearly outlined by mentioning a "four month break" and stating readiness to work "seven days a week at any time." The tone is appropriate for a semi-formal letter, and the purpose is clear throughout. Although some ideas are fairly straightforward and could be extended further, all parts of the prompt are satisfactorily addressed, meeting the expectations for a Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is coherent overall and follows a logical structure. It begins with an appropriate greeting ("Dear Mrs Barret,") and concludes with a standard sign-off. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate the introduction, availability, duties, and closing remarks. Cohesive devices are present, such as transitional phrases like "As I am not going college" and "I hope you will call me soon," although referencing and transitions are at times slightly mechanical or basic (e.g., repeating "As you are..."). Paragraphs flow reasonably well, maintaining a clear overall arrangement that guides the reader through the letter without difficulty. This performance fits the descriptors for a Band 6.5.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for the task, successfully communicating everyday concepts such as "living expenses," "housechores," and "formal interview." However, there are notable lexical and collocational inaccuracies. For instance, the writer uses "interested for the job position" instead of "interested in the job position," writes "tution" (spelling error) instead of "tuition," and uses "housechores" as a single word. Furthermore, phrases like "adjust with each others" and "at this position" show awkward word choice. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the message clearly, these errors and the lack of sophisticated uncommon lexical items prevent the score from reaching higher bands. This is a solid Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over grammar. Examples of successful structures include "I am writing to tell you that I am interested..." and "I used to help my mother before college so I am quite good..." However, grammatical errors are frequent throughout the text. Notable errors include subject-verb agreement issues ("I am a student and has four month break" and "As I am not going college"), missing prepositions, and awkward phrasing ("adjust with each others"). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but the grammatical inaccuracies occasionally require the reader to re-read parts of the sentence. These issues place the writing firmly in the Band 5.5 category.
