Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response successfully covers all the bullet points required in the task prompt. You have suggested how you can help Mrs Barrett by offering assistance with cleaning and cooking, explained why you would like to do the work through your passion for preparing meals, and outlined your availability by stating that you are free on weekdays but not on weekends due to school classes. While all parts of the prompt are addressed, some ideas are slightly under-developed or repetitive, particularly the section focusing on cooking and cleaning simultaneously. To reach a higher level, the ideas could be extended with more specific details regarding your previous experience or the exact tasks you are comfortable undertaking.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The letter maintains a basic level of organization, with an opening salutation and a closing sign-off. However, the overall arrangement lacks clear progression and paragraphing, as the entire body of the letter is written as a single, dense block of text rather than being separated into logical paragraphs for each prompt requirement. Cohesive devices are used minimally or mechanically, such as the frequent use of 'and' and 'so', and referencing is occasionally unclear, which disrupts the flow of the letter. To improve in this area, you should divide your ideas into distinct paragraphs corresponding to each part of the task and use a wider range of transition words more naturally.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

An adequate vocabulary range is employed to communicate your message effectively for this task. You attempt less common vocabulary and phrases, such as 'household tasks', 'cuisines', and 'time schedule'. However, there are notable word choice issues and spelling errors throughout the text, including 'mrs Barett', 'differnt', 'clsses', and 'responce'. Despite these errors, meaning is generally not impeded, and the reader can easily understand your intentions. To achieve a higher score, you should focus on expanding your use of precise collocation, refining your spelling, and avoiding repetitive phrasing such as 'cook food'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as conditional and reason clauses introduced by 'as' and 'so'. There are several noticeable errors in grammar, punctuation, and capitalization, including missing capital letters for proper nouns and pronouns like 'i', run-on sentences with comma splices such as 'next summer. So i would like', and incorrect prepositional usage like 'in every household tasks'. Although these errors are present, they rarely impede overall communication. To move up to the next band, you need to demonstrate better control over punctuation, ensure accurate capitalization, and increase the frequency of error-free complex sentences.
