Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response successfully covers all parts of the prompt, earning a solid score in this category. You clearly suggest how you could help Mrs Barrett by mentioning household chores such as cooking, washing dishes, and grocery shopping, and you explain your motivation by highlighting your caregiving background. Furthermore, you state your availability clearly by outlining your weekday and weekend schedules. However, some ideas remain slightly under-developed, which prevents a higher score. For instance, your explanation of why you would like to do this work leans heavily on general statements rather than fully extending how your specific background makes you uniquely suited for Mrs Barrett. To reach the next level, you should expand on your ideas with richer details and examples of your past experience.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

Your letter maintains a coherent overall arrangement and follows a logical structure for a personal request. You appropriately begin with a standard greeting and an opening statement of purpose, followed by body paragraphs addressing your tasks, motivation, and availability. Cohesive devices are generally present, but referencing and transitions are at times mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'I can' to start consecutive sentences in the first paragraph. Paragraphing is also somewhat lumped together, as availability is introduced abruptly within the second half of the response rather than being cleanly separated. To improve in this area, use a wider variety of transitional phrases and ensure each paragraph focuses on a distinct theme with clear signposting.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your message clearly. You make successful attempts at less common vocabulary such as 'caregiver', 'eligible', and 'entertainment'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors that reflect a mid-level range, including 'acompany' instead of 'accompany', 'becasue' instead of 'because', and 'easire' instead of 'easier'. Additionally, phrases like 'help you help you' demonstrate lexical slips. To achieve a higher band, you need to demonstrate greater precision in word choice, eliminate spelling mistakes entirely, and incorporate more sophisticated collocations related to employment and domestic assistance.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

Your writing displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional structures ('If needed I can also...'). You demonstrate good control over basic sentence patterns, but there are several grammatical errors scattered throughout the text. Examples include article omissions and preposition issues, such as writing 'I am in the evening after 3 pm' instead of 'I am available in the evening after 3 pm' and 'interested to help you' instead of 'interested in helping you'. Punctuation errors also appear, notably doubled pronouns like 'I I would like'. These errors do not impede communication, but they prevent you from securing a higher band, which requires a higher proportion of error-free complex sentences.
