Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You address all three points in the prompt: you offer household help, explain your reasons, and give a clear period and daily time when you are available, as well as noting that weekends are unavailable. Specific tasks such as washing clothes, dusting, and shopping make your offer relevant, while earning money and gaining experience explain your motivation. The letter also uses an appropriate greeting and sign-off. To make the response stronger, develop a few details more fully—for example, clarify what you mean by caring for Mrs Barrett’s children and whether you have relevant experience. A more direct, polished opening would also establish your offer more confidently. Overall, the required information is clear and the ideas are supported, though some remain general.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The letter is organised in a clear sequence: you introduce your interest, list the help you can provide, explain your motivation, and then state your availability before closing. Paragraphing supports this progression, and phrases such as “Regarding my availability” help signal a change of topic. The list of chores is easy to follow, and the reader can identify your schedule without difficulty. To improve further, connect some related ideas more smoothly rather than presenting them as separate statements—for instance, link your wish to improve your English with your interest in working with Mrs Barrett. A few transitions could also make the move from your reasons to your schedule feel more natural. Overall, the organisation is logical and the message remains clear.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of vocabulary for a domestic-help letter, including “organizing cupboards,” “washing clothes,” “dusting,” “run errands,” and “family commitments.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and “practical experience” is suitably precise. However, noticeable spelling errors and awkward word combinations reduce accuracy and naturalness, as in “vacuming,” “eadger,” “genuniely,” and “household chores.” Some expressions are also imprecise: “pickup something” does not clearly describe the errands, and “I love the opportunity” is not a natural way to express interest. Aim to check spelling carefully and learn common collocations for offering help and describing availability. This would make your vocabulary more fluent and precise.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
Your response includes both simple statements and attempts at longer structures, such as “I am eager to do this work because…” and “I want to gain practical experience which may help…”. The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but frequent errors in sentence construction and verb forms make the writing less controlled. For example, “I am writing in response your advertising” needs a preposition, “I also available” is missing a verb, and “I will not able” needs “be.” The phrase “I looking forward” also requires “am.” There are problems with articles and sentence patterns in “I love the opportunity that assist to in your…” and “I can take care of you children.” Practise complete sentence patterns and check each clause for a subject and correctly formed verb.
