Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Mrs Barrett,

I hope you are doing well. I am writing this letter to request you about to consider me for this task. After saw your requirements about this job I become happy because I am fulfilling all your requirements.

Moreover, I want to inform you that I have five years of experience of doing household tasks like I am good in cooking , dusting and in other household cores.

Furthermore, I want to tell you that I am facing some financial crisis after the accident of my father. So, I want to support my family and want to reduce their financial burden.

In addition to this, I also want to tell you about my availability that I am unable to come late at night because I have to care my parents. One more thing, I have to go home during daytime for an hour because I have to make lunch for my parents at that time.

I hope you would consider my humble request and I am eagerly waiting for your prompt response.

Kind Regards,

Nosheen.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address all three points: you offer household help, explain that you want to support your family financially, and describe limits on your availability. The experience of cooking and dusting makes your offer relevant, and the reason for seeking work is clear. However, the help you could provide is only briefly listed, and your schedule is not fully specific: you say you cannot come late at night and need to leave for an hour during the day, but do not state which days or hours you are available. Develop these details so Mrs Barrett can judge whether your schedule suits her needs. The letter is appropriate overall, though a more direct offer would make its purpose clearer.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter follows a sensible sequence: you introduce your interest, describe your experience, explain your motivation, and then discuss availability. Paragraph breaks help distinguish these points, and linking phrases such as “Furthermore” and “In addition to this” make the relationships between ideas clear. This gives the response a coherent overall arrangement. To make the progression more natural and flexible, reduce the repeated announcement phrases “I want to inform you” and “I also want to tell you”; they make the links feel somewhat mechanical. You could instead begin each paragraph with its main point, such as your experience or your schedule, and use fewer formal connectors.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main points, including “household tasks,” “financial burden,” and “availability.” These choices show some range beyond very basic language, and the reader can understand your intentions. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, including “request you about to consider me,” “household cores,” and “prompt response.” The repeated use of “tell you” and “want” also limits variety. Aim for natural phrases suited to a polite job enquiry, such as “I would like to be considered,” “household chores,” and “I look forward to hearing from you.” More precise vocabulary for the tasks and working hours would strengthen the letter.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including explanations with “because” and a time clause beginning “because I have to make lunch.” The main message remains understandable, and some sentence patterns are controlled. However, there are some errors in verb forms and sentence construction, as in “After saw your requirements” and “I become happy,” and the opening phrase “I am writing this letter to request you about to consider me” is not grammatically well formed. There are also problems with articles and infinitive patterns, for example “I have to care my parents.” Practise forming past-time clauses and polite request structures, and check each sentence for a complete, natural grammatical pattern.
