Dear Mrs Barrett,
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Mrs Barrett,
I hope you are doing well,
I am writing to inquire about you that I am available for help you in your home from next summer. I saw your advertisement and I have keen interest to do work in your house.
First of all, I will help you in basic household chores such as cleaning clothes, washing dishes and other essential tasks. Additionally, I wil also help you in gardening, where we will provide water to plants.
The main reason why I like this work is that, I love to do household works in my daily routine. Due to this, this work is not only easier to do but also interesting as well. Also, I have to work for few hour, which is not a difficult for me to manage this work.
I usually available from Moday to Friday from 10 am to 2 pm. But, I will not available in Satuarday or Sunday.
I am looking forward to hearing ffrom you soon.
Your Sincerely,
Taran

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three points: you offer help with chores and gardening, explain that you enjoy household work, and give weekday hours while ruling out weekends. These details make the letter relevant and its purpose clear. The availability information is particularly specific, and the examples of tasks help the reader understand what you could do. However, the reason for wanting the job is less fully developed: saying the work is interesting and manageable could be supported with a more personal explanation, such as relevant experience or why the hours suit you. The offer to help is also quite general in places. More developed, tailored details would make the response feel more complete and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall sequence: you introduce your purpose, describe the help you can offer, explain your motivation, and finish with your availability and a closing. Paragraph breaks support this progression, and phrases such as “First of all,” “Additionally,” and “The main reason” help signal the stages. Some linking is mechanical, however, and the opening sentences do not connect smoothly: “I hope you are doing well” is followed by an awkwardly constructed statement of purpose. The gardening sentence also shifts to “we,” making the reference less clear. Use transitions more selectively and ensure pronouns consistently refer to you; this would make the cohesion more natural and precise.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “household chores,” “essential tasks,” and “gardening.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations sound unnatural, which is consistent with this level. For example, “cleaning clothes” would more naturally be “doing the laundry,” and “provide water to plants” could be “water the plants.” “I have keen interest to do work” is also an awkward expression; “I am keen to take on this work” is more idiomatic. Spelling errors such as “Moday,” “Satuarday,” and “ffrom” are noticeable. Learning common phrases for domestic tasks and checking spelling would improve clarity and naturalness.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more developed sentences, including “The main reason why I like this work is that…” and “Due to this…,” but control is inconsistent. Errors in verb patterns and sentence structure appear in “I am writing to inquire about you that I am available for help you” and “I usually available”; these could be written as “I am writing to ask whether you need help” and “I am usually available.” There are also missing or incorrect articles and forms in “for few hour” and “not a difficult for me.” Punctuation is uneven, with commas used where full stops would be clearer. These errors sometimes make the reader work to understand the sentence. Practise accurate basic patterns before adding longer clauses.
