Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Mrs Barrett,
I hope you are doing great. I found that you need a person in your home for few hours a day in next summer for your help.
I am really interested to helping you, the main reason is that I can easily understand the english. So, we does not have any issue to communicate with each other. Additionally, I am a good cook also know how to do laundary and other household chores very well.
Recently, I completed personal support worker course, therefore, I definately know that how to take care of a old person. I love this job to do because I have other abilities like good communication skills, patience and problem solving skills.
If you really want that I will help you in future, then feel free to contact me as I am available from wednesday to sunday, not on monday and tuesday because of classes. I am waiting for your reply.
Best regards,
Sunpreet

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three points in the task: you offer cooking, laundry and household help, explain your interest through your support-worker training and personal qualities, and give your available days. These details make the letter relevant and your purpose is clear. However, some points are less fully developed than others. For example, you say you can care for an older person, but do not explain what specific support you could provide, and your availability would be clearer with exact times or dates for next summer. The reason for wanting the work is also somewhat general. Adding one or two concrete details about your experience and schedule would make the response more complete and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: you introduce your interest, describe your abilities, explain your motivation, and finish with availability and a closing. Paragraph breaks help separate these points, and connectors such as “Additionally” and “therefore” show relationships between ideas. At times, however, the links feel mechanical or the reference is unclear. For instance, “If you really want that I will help you in future” is an awkward transition into your availability, and “I am waiting for your reply” could be connected more naturally to a polite closing. Use straightforward links and make each paragraph focus on one purpose to improve the flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a suitable range of vocabulary for a domestic-help letter, including “household chores,” “personal support worker,” “patience,” and “problem solving skills.” These choices communicate your abilities and motivation. However, several word choices, collocations and spelling errors reduce naturalness, such as “interested to helping,” “laundary,” and “I love this job to do.” “English” is also capitalised inconsistently, and “a old person” is not the natural phrase for this context. Aim for accurate, conventional expressions and check spelling carefully. More precise wording about the tasks you can perform would also help demonstrate a broader and more controlled vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including a reason clause with “because” and a sentence joined by “therefore.” The main message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors occur across the letter. Examples include “we does not have” instead of “we do not have,” “I am really interested to helping” instead of “interested in helping,” and “I completed personal support worker course,” which needs an article. The sentence beginning “If you really want that I will help you” also needs a clearer clause structure. Practise verb agreement, articles and verb patterns, then proofread each sentence for these points while retaining your attempts at varied structures.
