Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear Mrs Barrett,
I writing this letter to you in the response of the advertisement where you mentioned for assistence in your home for some hours a day in upcoming summer.
Suggesting the help that I can provide is cleaning and organizing your home. I have experience with cleaning the house as I worked as a voluneer several times with local community services. Along with that, I am keen to organizing the things, even assisted many neighbours in order to maintain their household items.
The reason behind helping you is that you are an English-speaker and I am fluent in this language. Many locals have few knowledge about english, hence I can be very supportive in term to convey any need you required.
In the next summer, I will be free from 17 June to 19 July because my college with off.
If you are interested, I can contact to me on [redacted phone].
Yours faithfully,
Manni

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address the main purpose by offering cleaning and organising, explaining your interest, and giving a period when you are free. However, the availability point is incomplete: you say you are free from 17 June to 19 July but do not explain when you will not be available, as requested. Your reason for wanting the work is also unclear. Being fluent in English may help with communication, but the letter does not explain why you personally want this job, such as gaining experience or earning money. The offer of help is relevant, though the reference to assisting neighbours could be developed with a specific example. Clarifying these points would make the response cover the task more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: it introduces the advertisement, describes possible help, gives a reason, and then discusses availability and contact details. Paragraphing helps the reader follow these separate points, and linking phrases such as “Along with that” and “The reason behind” signal the next idea. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some progression. However, the connection between your English ability and your motivation for the job is not fully clear, and the availability paragraph is very brief. The closing contact sentence also interrupts the flow because its meaning is difficult to follow. Make the relationship between ideas more explicit and use a conventional closing request to improve cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough task-related vocabulary to communicate the basic offer, including “cleaning,” “organizing,” “volunteer,” and “household items.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “local community services” and “maintain their household items.” However, several noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation problems reduce precision: “assistence,” “voluneer,” “keen to organizing,” and “few knowledge” are examples. Some phrases, including “in the response of the advertisement” and “convey any need you required,” are awkward and may make the reader pause. Build accuracy by learning common letter-writing collocations and checking spelling and word forms; this will make your otherwise relevant vocabulary clearer and more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a mixture of sentence forms, including a reason clause with “as I worked…” and a time clause beginning “because.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to affect clarity. The opening needs a finite verb (“I am writing”), while “I am keen to organizing” has an incorrect verb pattern. In “my college with off,” the clause is incomplete, and “I can contact to me” has an unclear subject and structure. There are also problems with articles and countability in “a few knowledge” and with the construction “in term to convey.” Practise accurate basic clauses and verb patterns first, then combine them into longer sentences; careful proofreading would also help.
